Bai Yan (cousin of Bai Suxin at paternal side) nudged me by her right elbow. I ignored her; picking my chopsticks, I started eating in the most graceful manner of my entire life.
This dining etiquette really was exhausting. Don't slouch. Don't chew loudly. No slurping.
Ahh.. I really wanted to lick the plate. The dishes were too tasty. I have to remind myself again and again in the entire meal not to forget my mission today.
But.. I think.. no one would have notice if I eat one more buns, right?
'Liu Shishi control your d*mn mouth! Stop chewing!'
In the real world, I really have a good and big appetite. Mom raised me by indulging me with all kinds of foods.
'Thank you, Mom. Love you.'
During company parties, you won't find me socializing with my colleagues; but you'll soon notice one voracious person sitting in a corner, burying her head in the plates full of deserts and meats.
That's why, in my two years as office worker, I haven't saved enough money. I spent it all at online shoppings and food deliveries. And I'm a very big fan of eat-all-you-can restaurants a.k.a buffets.
I'm that kind of person who thinks smiling is tiring. That kind who can stay in the room all day long for a month or two. It's no problem with me.
Maybe that's one of the reason, I only have few friends and people can hardly believe that Chang Jiangke, our student council president during high school— is my best friend.
Back in my world, Chang Jiangke was one of my truest friend. Even though, he was the exact opposite of me (he's an extrovert), I loved him. He talked a lot. He laughed a lot. Chang Jiangke just loved basking in the sun.
But that's not what I loved about him.
I let him in because.. Chang Jiangke once cried for me.
I don't know. Maybe because his tears reminded me of those days; those beautiful and calm rainy days where I sat by my window with a book in my hand. At that time, his tears, his sincerity really touched my heart.
I wonder what that person is cooking right now. Yup, he said he became a professional chef for me. 'Ah, I miss his foods.'
I glanced at the other girls who's giggling nonstop; wantonly staring at the male lead. Yeah. Yeah. I get it. He's handsome.. so what? Good personalities and good foods are the most important thing in choosing a man.
Li Han is clearly a dog! I want to overturn the table and shout at them: 'Wake up ladies! You are being deceived!'
I squinted my eyes, then in the most convenient time, I attacked. I raised my shoüpa as I coughed lightly.
Even in the face of death; I still have to maintain the graceful and noble dignity of a lady. This transmigrator must give these people a good show!
I grabbed the teacup then intentionally drop it into the floor; the loud crash took everyone's attention.
I inhaled sharply.
"My lady! My lady, what's wrong? Help! Someone help! Physician! Call the physician!" As practice, Jin'er came to me. She let me leaned on her shoulder; her voice shaking, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears.
'Did she went to acting schools? She's too convincing; thumbs up Jin'er!'
I lifted my hand, my finger pointing at one specific direction.
"W-why?" I asked weakly but it seems everyone had heard it– loud and clear.
In response, many accusing eyes darted towards Chu Wanwan. All guests joined in the bitter denunciation of the female lead.
Chu Wanwan shook her head, desperately denying the accusation. "I.. I didn't.. I.."
"You again! You evil girl!" Li Cha exclaimed.. "Guards! Arrest her!"
"No!!! I really.. Let me go! I'm innocent! I didn't do it. Let go!"
As fast as lightning, Li Han took me from Jin'er; he hurriedly carried me into his arms.
'What is this?'
Even though, I already lose counts of how many times did the male lead carried me like this; I'm genuinely still shocked every time.
"Your Highness, it's not me! I'm innocent!" The female lead shouted while exchanging fists and kicks to the guards; still clearly resisting the arrest.
'Wow! Girl power! Chu Wanwan sure can fight!'
"Your Highness, please believe me." Chu Wanwan pleaded.
Black lines have taken shape to the faces of those guards. Sure, being tossed around by a woman was indeed a big humiliation to them.
"Your Highness, this.. this.. please calm down. We must first carefully investigate, Your Highness. Chu Wanwan is my goddaughter. She won't do anything reckless." Xu Zhang reasoned out.
"Right Prime Minister, compared to your goddaughter, an outsider; who do you think is Xin'er? She's my eldest daughter! A true citizen of this empire, born with noble blood, descendant of the Great Bai Family!" Bai Muro argued back.
"A public official blatantly defending a criminal– possibly a spy! You, senile old man– you dare sell your own country! This is a serious crime. A high treason punishable by 9 familial exterminations!"
"You- you-." Too angry, Xu Zhang couldn't refute Bai Muro's allegations.
'Wow!'
I could still hear the loud sobbing of Bai Meili and Jin'er from my side amidst the arguments between the two empire's highest officials.
I breathed hard as I leaned closer, "Y-your Highness, am I.. dying?"
I know I won't die today. It's just that.. the feeling of being suffocated was not that great. 'Ahh.. I can't breathe.' I clutched my neck as I started wheezing.
"No." His eyes glazed with fire.
"You won't. I won't let you."
Hmmp. Let's see, who can try to calm this dog male lead.
"What are you all doing? Li Nian!"
"Yes!"
"Arrest that criminal and immediately throw her to the dungeon. Take a limb or two. Make her confess, torture her if you must!" His voice echoed like it was rising from the depths of hell.
"Yes!"
I can't focused anymore. Black spots appeared on my vision.
"Where's that damn physician?!"
