Chapter 13

I slowly open my eyes as I feel rustling against me.

After my eyes have adjusted I look around and look down to see Jaymie in a ball. My ears pick up the sound of her sobbing and my heart slowly breaks as I feel a whimper coming from my chest.

I move closer to her and pull her into me; spooning her.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Mhmm." She mumbles, trying to calm down her breath.

I turn her around to face me and carefully look at her face.

"Did anything happen?" I ask.

"N-No... I-I-I was just thinking a-about K-Kari." She chokes out.

I nod my head and hug her body against mine.

"It's okay, she'll be fine. She's strong and she'll wake up." I tell her.

She slowly nods her head before more tears escape from her eyes.

"Let it all out. It's better out than in." I slightly joke.

Her tears come out more as she hugs me tightly. I stroke her hair and lay my head on hers.

After a while she stops crying and her breathing becomes gentle.

I sigh and worry myself about Kari and hope that she will be okay, not only for herself but for Jaymie and Luke.

I slowly begin to fall back to sleep but before I fall unconscious I feel a pair of lips on my cheek.

I wake up to an empty bed. Panicking, I quickly get up and walk out my room. I smell the air a little and pick up her scent, I start walking and folloing the scent until I come to the kitchen.

I look inside and see Jaymie cooking breakfast with my mom and Luke. I smile at the image but as I take in the surroundings I growl.

Most of the people in the room stop staring at Jaymie's butt. I protectively walk to her and hug her from behind.

"Good morning Tayla." Jaymie greets.

I smile happily at her and peck her on the cheek.

I move to my mom and peck her on the cheek.
