Sorry I haven't updated in about a month :( I've been doing mock exams ready for my final exams, which start in a week.

Chapter 14

Me and Erick sit in the chairs at the end of the bed while Jaymie and Luke sit next each other.

I listen carefully to Kari's heartbeat, peaceful and calm. Jaymie and Luke are silently crying as they look over their comatose sister.

I look down at mine and Erick's linked hands, upset because I'm unable to do anything.

I scan my eyes around the room; white walls, uncomfortable chairs and machines. Kari looks both peaceful but also in pain, Jaymie has moved her so that the teddy bear is under her arm.

There are no flowers in the room as she has hay fever but there are balloons, chocolate and other things in the room.

'Dot you thinks it's stupid?' I ask.

'What?'

'The fact that people have brought chocolate and food for Kari, yet she may not be able to have it because she's comatose..'

'At least they're being considerate, they didn't have to bring anything in but they did. And at least no one brought flowers.'

'True, I know that they didn't have to bring anything but if they are then why bring something that just going to go to waste seeing as she's not going to appreciate them?'

'Tay, calm down. There's no point in getting angry over small stupid things. Why don't you take a breather?'

I nod my head and let go of his hand. I stand up and move towards Jaymie, I bend down and whisper in her ear.

"I'm going to get a drink, do you want anything?"

Jaymie shakes her head no. I nod my head in return and look at Luke. He also shakes his head so I move away and walk out of the room, silently closing the door.

I walk down the silent hallways, looking for a café.

I walk into the hospitals café and look at the menu. I ignore the stupidly high prices and wait in the line.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The man asks.

"Hey, I'd like a hot chocolate, a bottled water, a bottle of apple juice and a bottle of orange juice." I smile.

The man collects everything, makes the hot chocolate before walking back to the register.

"Okay, so that's £2.70 for the hot chocolate and £1.50 for the bottled drinks, and all together, £7.20." He explains.

I give him a £10 note and pocket two bottles in my hoodie. I take the change and thank him before holding the bottle in one hand and the hot chocolate in the other.

I take a steady and slow walk back to the room.

5 minutes later.

'Erick, open the door.'

Erick opens the door for me and takes the hot chocolate out of my hands. I place the bottle of water on my chair before giving the apple juice to Jaymie and the orange juice to Luke.

They thank me and Jaymie gives me a kiss.

'How did you know they wanted a drink?' Luke asks.

'I could sense that she ways thirsty and I knew her favourite was apple juice, I think they just didn't want to ask.'
