(Y/N) watched from her corner as the beautiful Ravenclaw walked past her without a second glance. Cho Chang was by far the prettiest girl she had ever seen, and she so very badly wanted to get to know her. The only problem is, (Y/N) is socially awkward and Cho, well, Cho isn't.

Day after day, (Y/N) would try to work up the courage to talk to the dark haired angel, but she would always chicken out at the last minute, giving up on her plan entirely.

She stared wistfully as Cho as she turned the corner with her group of friends, chatting and giggling. (Y/N) was bewildered by the fact that one could manage to befriend so many people. She only had managed to scrape a handful of peers herself, but that was about it.

(Y/N) hadn't noticed she had zoned out until someone shook her slightly. She looked up to see Luna Lovegood, a fellow classmate, and one of her only trusted friends. "Hey, Luna," she sighed. Luna hummed in gretting, leaning against the stone pillar that (Y/N) was using to hide her existence. "Did you talk to her?" Luna asked, fiddling with her bottle cap necklace. (Y/N) shook her head gloomily.

The blonde haired girl rested a sympathetic hand on her friend's shoulder. "Don't worry about it, okay? It took Ginny and I positively ages to be happy together, so don't fret. "

"Thanks, Luna," (Y/N) mumbled, straightening up. She adjusted her book bag strap and absentmindedly played with the rings on her fingers.

"Hey, want to go out and pick daisies?"

"Luna, its pouring rain outside,"

"And?"

An hour later, the two friends re-entered the Ravenclaw common room, soaked to the skin and clutching sodden bunches of white daisies that hung their heads limply. Shivering, (Y/N) sat in front of the fire and tried to warm up as best as she could. The last thing she wanted was a cold. She watched Luna go up the stairs while muttering something about 'gurdyroot tea'.

The common room was relatively silent, unless you counted the ticking of the large, ancient grandfather clock and the rain lashing against the window, and then sound of a sweet, melodic voice talking to her- wait, hang on . . .

"It's (Y/N), right?"

(Y/N) turned rapidly to see Cho Chang smiling at her unsurely.

"Y-Yeah, that's me," she mumbled, blushing. Cho took a seat beside her. "We don't talk much, do we?" grinned Cho, and (Y/N) nodded in agreement. She couldn't believe this was happening!

They continued to have a simple, pleasant conversation, and (Y/N) learned a lot more than she could have imagined about Cho, and vice versa. Cho was even more wonderful once you got to know her. (Y/N) admired the way Cho's eyes sparkled in the light of the blue flames, completely and utterly smitten.

". . . And that's how my uncle got my grandmother's favourite chopsticks stuck up his- (Y/N)? Are you alright?"

(Y/N) jolted out of her lovestruck daze, her cheeks burning a bright red. Cho was looking at her with an expression of deepest concern. She raised her palm up to the girl's forehead.

"You're rather warm," Cho said, brushing the damp hair out of (Y/N)'s face as she inspected her. (Y/N) tried to force the redness that was crawling up her neck away but it was no use. She found herself leaning into the pretty girl's touch without realizing it. Cho giggled, softly

"Y'know, my best guess is that you've caught a cold from being out in the rain," she murmured, studying (Y/N), not with pity, but with a sort of amusement. She had never fully appreciated the girl sitting opposite her. If she had known (Y/N) was this interesting, then she would have made her move ages ago.

(Y/N), on the other hand, was in a small state of panic. If she's had a cold, then that would mean going to the hospital wing, and she hated the hospital wing. "I'm sure I'm fine!" she rambled.

"It's probably no-" she interrupted herself with a loud sneeze. Cho bit back a laugh as she handed the snuffling (Y/N) a napkin. "It's probably nothing my arse. Come on, let's get you to Madame Pomfrey."

(Y/N) shyly took hold of Cho's outstretched hand, fighting back the urge to squeal in excitement. They held hands all the way to the hospital wing, until Madame Pomfrey told Cho to go and wash her hands and get back to bed. Cho waited for her to walk back to her office and then turned back to (Y/N), who was slightly smoking at the ears due to the PepperUp potion she was told to drink.

"Listen," Cho began, fidgeting with her fingers. "Um, do you maybe want to meet up in at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade tomorrow? I liked spending time with you today, and I'd love to relive the whole thing . . . but only if you want to, that is!" She looked at (Y/N) with hopeful eyes.

"Sounds like a plan," (Y/N) heard herself saying. Her brain was still trying to process what had happened. "Brilliant! I'll see you there , then!" smiled Cho, her lips set in a toothy grin. She gave (Y/N)'s hand a squeeze, then skipped towards the large entrance doors of the wing. She stopped as she was about to leave, waved, then scurried out silently.

(Y/N) couldn't stop smiling as she laid back against the soft covers of her hospital bed. She was going to meet up with the the girl she had been infatuated with since first year. They were going to drink butterbeer together, maybe even go to Zonko's! Pleasant, fluffy fantasies filled (Y/N)'s head as she drifted off, still beaming.
