"Jesus Christ, I fucking hate this place." Fatin swatted a fly in the air with a disgusted face, Eleanor laughed as she leaned back on the rock they were sitting on, taking in the sun through the trees. "You and me both, I mean how the fuck does someone get that lost?" "In your defense it was dark as shit." Eleanor nodded, taking a drink of the soda Fatin had stolen, the other one in Fatin's hand as they clinked them together smiling like idiots. "Y'know, stealing from my stash was kind of fucked, then again finding a water source, pretty dope. I don't know whether to smack you or kiss you?" Fatin laughed, shaking her head as she took a sip of the soda.
"I'd take both from you." Fatin smiled, leaning back as she sent a wink towards Nell. "Aw, I'm flattered." Eleanor grinned, sticking out her tongue at Fatin. "So, Nell, what fucked up thing got you sent here?" Eleanor looked up at Fatin, an eyebrow raise making the girl across from her laugh. "Oh c'mon, I could see it in your eyes when you walked to the back of that plane. You did not want to be there, whatsoever. Your sister on the other hand, overly fucking happy." "Yeah, um, I got out of my house, my mom y'know she was a cunt..." Eleanor trailed off looking deeper into the woods for a moment then down at the can in her hand.
"When we got out...and I moved in with Wendy, the detective on our case. I rebelled, pretty bad. Partied until, like, the sun came up. Drugs and alcohol. I was really addicted to the shit for a while... she sent me to rehab and I came out the same fucking person and then... she sent me again and again. For a year. Shit, I still am the same person." Eleanor stopped talking, taking a drink from the can, her eyes meeting Fatin's for a moment, the girl had concern written all over her face. "So now I'm here. Y'know." Eleanor quickly ended what she was saying, shaking her head and putting a smile on her face. "I'm alright now." Fatin nodded but the look in her eye never changed.
"What about you?" Fatin took in a deep breath, looking away as she brought her knees to her chest. "My dad... we were super close for a while. Y'know my mom was always so pushy on me to be my best. Work on my cello all day long, and have no friends. Shut-in style." Eleanor laughed watching Fatin think as she recalled the memories, a smile soon spreading on her face without her even realizing it. "Then... there was this bid he wanted me to watch. And his tablet dinged and I thought it was that fucking bid and..." "It wasn't the bid. It was someone." Fatin nodded, biting her lip as she looked up at the clouds.
"God, my problems sound so lame compared to yours." "Don't." Fatin looked over at Nell who shook her head. "All problems aren't equal but, when you're so used to something, and then it changes just like that... It hurts. It hurts when someone betrays you like that. When the person you're supposed to love can't even look you in the eyes. When the person that's supposed to love you..." "Looks at you like they hate you." Eleanor nodded, the familiar look in Fatin's eyes reminded her of her own, a sad silence filled in the air between them.
