The Lost Miraculous

Chapter 5

"Are you sure leaving those girls alone was the best idea?" Plagg asked as Adrien shut himself in the janitor's room. His kwami's words echoed in his head, poor Cristina, first day in Paris and she'd already been put in danger thanks to Hawkmoth.

"I can't exactly protect them if I'm Adrien," he said raising an eyebrow at his friend. "Plagg, claws out!"

After transforming, he saw the sunlight slowly starting to disappear. He stood on his tiptoes and looked out the small window. The sun was being... erased? Eyes widened Cat Noir opened the door slowly and looked both ways. He heard everyone's shrieks and then Mr. Damocles's instructions, the students were being rushed into the library. Okay, so they were safe... he still had to get the girls to safety from Evillustrator.

He pulled out his catphone. "Hey there Bugaboo, you won't believe who came back for another round. It starts with Evil and ends in Lustrator. I'm at Dupont High School."

The familiar adrenaline rush was coursing through his body and with a smirk, he set out to find his friends.

"Let me get this straight, out of all the people in Paris- no scratch that, in the world they chose you to be Ladybug?!" Lila yelled as she paced through the bathroom, "they chose the clumsiest, most awkward girl ever!" She turned to look at Ladybug whose hand was on her yo-yo and then grinned evilly, "and just wait until I tell Hawkmoth," she hissed the last words and turned around only to be faced by a strange girl. Lila yelped.

Like Ladybug, she had a mask, but hers was blue and had feather outlines all over it, her suit was of different shades of blue, golden outlines of feathers hugged her legs, a dark blue feather belt with golden tips hung loosely around her waist and she was holding a fan that matched her belt. She opened it and took a feather from it.

"Forget this ever happened, get to safety," she whispered and brushed the feather against Lila's cheek.
Lila whimpered and then gasped.
"I have to get to safety!" She shouted as she ran out of the restrooms.
Ladybug stood there, her hand still on her weapon. What had she just witnessed? She closed her mouth and very slowly took a step forward. She frowned.
"Who are you?" She asked the girl.
Her dark hair had blue highlights and half of it, except for two strands, was being held back by two feather-shaped hair clips, no doubt a miraculous.

The girl hesitated. She hooked her fan on her belt and looked away.
"We should help those students," she said not meeting her eyes.

"Chloe! This time I will have no mercy!" Evillustrator yelled as he climbed down the stairs. This time he was drawing on a tablet that was illuminated, he didn't need light to draw anymore.
Cat Noir observed from the roof as Evillustrator walked into the empty courtyard. Out of nowhere, bars bursted from the ground, surrounding the school. He was trapping them in.

"Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long, kitty," Ladybug said as she landed beside him. Should she tell him about the girl now? Or about what happened with Lila? "Cat Noir-"
"Ladybug look out!" Cat Noir pushed her as a giant snow ball flew past them.
Both of them fell from the roof onto the first floor. The air was knocked out from both of them. Struggling to get up, Evillustrator drew walls around them.
"No mistakes this time!" He laughed as he left both superheroes trapped, "Chloe! Where are you?"
His words echoed around the school.

"Milady, are you okay?" Cat Noir asked as he helped her up.
"I'm okay. We have to get out of here," she said as she hit the wall with her elbow. "Cat Noir extend your staff."
Cat Noir grabbed Ladybug's waist, who shot him an annoyed look, and extended his staff but to no luck. It only cracked the glass wall.
"Again," Ladybug said clenching her fists. Cat Noir extended his staff again and again and finally it burst through the glass.
"Some boy named Adrien said some of his friends were hidden in a classroom on one of the top floors," Cat Noir said, but he was pulled back by Marinette.
"Wait! I saw one of their classmates taking them to the cafeteria!" She said in a high pitched voice.
"Good," he said, "it's like his powers were upgraded or something, he doesn't need light to draw anymore" Cat Noir said as they started to run through the corridor, they both jumped and landed on the first floor.
Ladybug wasn't completely focused. She couldn't be, not when there was another possible miraculous holder in Paris and one she didn't know about. Not when Lila had discovered her secret, and what had this mysterious girl done? Had she really wiped Lila's memories?

"Penny for your thoughts milady?"
"We have to end this fast. There's something I have to tell you."
"You've got this cat's attention," he said grinning.

Both of them stopped. They were in the middle of the courtyard with their weapons out and alert. Suddenly they heard Chloe's screams coming from the cafeteria.
They burst through the doors.
"You are ridiculous, utterly ridiculous! You think you can just erase me? Ladybug will defeat you like she always does!"
Evillustrator had started to erase Chloe. Her feet were gone, and her legs were quickly disappearing.
Ladybug threw her yo-yo at him knocking his tablet off his hands.
The villain growled and simply extended his hand, the tablet flew back to him like a boomerang, Ladybug gasped. A giant boxing glove started to take shape out of thin air.
"Brings back memories," Cat Noir sighed, his chin resting on his staff.
Ladybug desperately wanted to end this so she spoke the Lucky Charm words. A football fell into her hands. "Seriously?"
"Not the best time to play sports," Cat Noir joked.
She looked around. The vending machine. Alix, the keychain she was holding. The football.
Ladybug grinned when she finally caught on. "Cat Noir cover me!"

He nodded and kicked at Evillustrator.
Ladybug threw the ball hard at the vending machine. Multiple soda cans started to come out, and some of them exploded, showering everyone in grape soda.
"Alix!" Ladybug yelled.
The girl looked up and caught a can that was closed. "Aim for the tablet!"
Grinning, Alix used the tip of the keychain she'd gotten for Cristina and used it to puncture the can multiple times. He aimed the liquid spraying from the container at Evillustrator's tablet. The villain covered his face with his weapon and then realized, a second too late, that it started to malfunction.
"No!" He said as he tried his pen, failing to draw anything he ran out of the cafeteria.

As everyone followed the fight outside, Chloe was left awkwardly dragging herself through the floor as she complained loudly.

Both superheroes chased him.
"Cat Noir, will you do the honor?" Ladybug yelled as she aimed her yo-yo at Evillustrator, it curled around his wrist.
Her partner grinned. "Cataclysm!"
Running towards the villain, Cat Noir caught a glimpse of a girl standing on the roof. She was down on one knee observing them.
Suddenly it felt as if the air he was breathing wasn't enough. Images of a blue bird, a mountain and snow flashed across his mind. His head was throbbing.
"Cat Noir watch out!" He heard multiple students say.
He looked in front of him and crashed against Evillustrator, his right hand brushed against the villain's beret, pulverizing it.

"Cat Noir!" Ladybug yelled worriedly. He was starting to get back up, a hand on his head.
Her yo-yo was still around Evillustrator's wrist, she pulled hard and brought him flying against her, he was tangled in the string.
With the other hand, Ladybug took the pen and threw it to the ground.
She looked around at the students. Alya, who was beside Cristina, which sent a wave of relief through Ladybug, grinned and walked over to the pen where she slammed her foot down on it. It broke under the impact revealing an akuma.
After capturing the evil butterfly and setting it free, Ladybug threw the football up in the air and called out the words that would fix all the damages.

"Pound it!" Both superheroes said as the sunlight slowly returned.
After making sure Nathaniel was safe and the students were okay, Ladybug and Cat Noir left the school.
"Cat Noir!" Ladybug called out when they were on the roof, "is everything okay?"
"I think so. I don't know what happened..." he said frowning, he was looking at the spot where the masked girl had been.
Ladybug sighed, "I have-" her earrings started to beep, then Cat Noir's ring. "Meet me at the top of the Eiffel Tower tonight, I have to tell you something that happened earlier."
Cat Noir nodded, but his head was somewhere else. Feelings that he hadn't experienced before hit him like an aggressive wave when he'd seen the mysterious girl on the roof of Dupont.

With a frown, Cat Noir extended his staff and landed outside of the school, he hid in a nearby alley and said the detransformation words.

Adrien fell against one of the walls. Taking a deep breath, he walked back into school thinking of what excuse he'd make up to explain why he was outside.
