???: Yo.

???: Heya (Y/n), I need you to come back to school.

You creaked your neck softly from left to right, rolling your shoulder as you spoke.

(Y/n): I'll be back soon, Gojo sensei.

Gojo: Ah good good, Make sure you finish up that mission first though. Wouldn't want any cursed spirits wandering around.

You nodded though of course, Goko couldn't tell you did before ending the call, sliding the device back into your shirt.

(Y/n): I wonder why he would need me back, they haven't let me take a break since I got here...

Your lips curled into a pout as you lifted your head back, gazing into the clouds over your head. It's not often you get to just sit back and enjoy sunny days. The warm feeling of the sun glowing over your skin and kicking back in the breeze. As a drop of rain hit your cheek, you reminded of the gentle curse that came with fog maniuplation. You quickly allowed your face to droop to avoid letting your glasses get covered in rain. Your eyes now fell upon the pile of spirits you had managed to take out so far.

(Y/n): I understand they are short on manpower, but I could at least go for a break.

Your feet clapped onto the ground as you hopped off the pile ready to finish out the stragglers in this old building. You took a few steps forward, using a free hand to dust your top off as you felt something strange roll down your back. It was brief but strange, causing a shudder down your spine. The strange sensation trailed down your lower back before finally leaving at the bottom of your top. Glancing over your shoulder... you paused. It took a moment for the object to register in your mind before your body turned back softly enough for you to pick it up.

(Y/n): The hell...?

You recognized it instantly. So much so it seemed like a jolt of memories as you could see this same scrap of paper used throughout your life. It was a talisman, a paper tag of sorts your parents used to scatter around the house to prevent cursed energy. They used them a ton when you were little and even put one of themselves. However, you seemed to get special attention as you had seven of these tags on your back.

(Y/n): Guess I'll have to get mom to pop it back on.

The talisman was designed to keep out evil spirits and negative energy since you were quite fragile as a kid, which makes a lot of sense considering you can't win without fog being around... A yawn wracked your body as you lifted your free hand to cover your mouth, crumpling the paper tag into a ball and placing it in your pocket. You took a moment to scan the area before moving out.

It happened so quickly you were in no position to counter in time. A trio of claws dug into your right hip and cleaved upward halfway across your back before you managed to pounce away. A burning sensation filled your lower back, the newly acquired wound screaming out in pain as it radiated with curse energy. Your glasses fell forward off of your face into a puddle as the rain finally started to pick up. (E/c) orbs cast their gaze onto a softly blurry frog-like spirit that had seemingly waited to ambush you in the pile of its fallen comrades. They... they should have dissolved by now unless...

One by one the creatures began to slowly unlink from the pile, crawling out of each other like ants bursting from a kicked hill. A pit formed in your stomach deep enough to keep your sinking heart falling, the ringing in your ears and the fire on your back compelling keeping you grounded lest you soar off into the nightmare this felt like.

(Y/n): Intelligent spirits... of all the luck...

Your breaths came out in heated pants, adrenaline and pain fueling your shocked brain long enough to come up with a strategy. Your right foot stumbled back, sputtering into a puddle beneath you as your gaze dropped down to see whisps of crimson dancing in the liquid. You were bleeding and needed to bandage up quickly. One of the spirits let out a loud croak stepping toward you with its tri-clawed hand brandished. You allowed yourself another step back as the creatures slowly began to fan out before you. You could leap off the top of the building but the fall would be just enough to shatter your legs if not worse. The stairs were old enough as it is walking on them so you and a horde of spirits might destroy your only route down. What do you do? What can you do? This... this wouldn't have happened if you had just stayed in Kyoto... This wouldn't have happened if you had brought someone with you but now...
