9. Intruder

Sasuke

I didn't know much about what was going on but for some reason, Orochimaru wanted to meet me.

I felt a little up to strength but still decided to keep it a secret.

I acted weaker than I usually was. I needed them to believe I was still powerless and let their guard down.

My eyes landed on Orochimaru since the first time I came here.

"Sasuke kun, do you understand why you are here in my hideout?" Orochimaru asked.

"So that's what this dark and murky place is? And what are these clothes?" I touched the new change of clothes I was given, looking down. "I must say, you have horrible taste."

Orochimaru laughed a little until it morphed into a very sickly sounding cough.

Kabuto was immediately by his side.

"I'm okay," he held his hand up, halting him. Then turned to Sasuke. "You are free to move wherever you need to within this place."

How was I supposed to know anything about it? Much less where to go?

I only knew dark rooms with their walls that all seemed to be the same.

I didn't even feel like touring such a place, nobody would. But for the sake of knowledge and to know exactly how the layout was, was important. So I nodded.

"You have to gain your strength, then Kabuto and I will train you until you exceed your limits," Orochimaru told me. "When you are ready, you will become the best vessel for me."

So this was what all of this was? I had no plans to become anyone's vessel.

He didn't know it yet but it was Naruto I would give up my body for if he needed it. Hell if he wanted it.

I neither agreed nor disagreed as I looked at him standing so weirdly close to Kabuto.

"You understand?" He asked. "There's no way out of here until you have fulfilled your purpose."

Yeah right. I laughed on the inside.

Kabuto had a very smug look on his face as he stared down at me from their raised platform.

And then the smug look disappeared suddenly from his face, like he'd just thought of something unpleasant.

He was right where I was in a heartbeat, his hand on my shoulder.

"This will be successful, your training starts now," said Kabuto.

The door suddenly burst open, a guy I've never seen before, got in like he was in the biggest hurry.

There was pure irritation in Kabuto's face before turning around. "What?!" He asked.

The poor guy looked scared. More scared of Kabuto than Orochimaru who stood looking at him.

He looked about ready to break a sweat before speaking.

"Orochimaru sama! The hideout, it's been infiltrated!"

Kabuto reacted first, leaping away from me to demand more answers while Orochimaru's jaw was set in annoyance.

"Who are they?" Kabuto asked.

"There was so much destruction it's unclear," the messenger said.

"How dare they interrupt us like this?" Asked Kabuto. "I'll go take care of it Orochimaru sama."

He got to the exit as I studied it.

Then the messenger spoke. "Be careful Kabuto, one of them has got immense chakra."

"Nothing I can't handle," he replied and left.

Orochimaru turned to me. "Come with me Sasuke kun."

I did, but I couldn't quiet my thoughts.

One of them? An intruder? Immense chakra? The love of my life? Could it be?
