The intercom went on in the plane, as I woke up from my deep sleep, startled from the sound of a voice.
"Attention passengers of Asia Airline, we will be arriving in Incheon International Airport in five minutes, preparing for landing. Please fasten your seatbelts and your tray table and seats are settled back. Thank you."
I opened up the window shades and looked out of the window. I smiled, amazed looking down at the clouds, feeling as if I were a bird flying in the sky.
Suddenly, the plane began to desend from the air and took landing. Shortly after, the intercom came on again.
"We have now arrived. Please remain seated until further notice. Thank you for flying with Asia Airlines, hope to fly with you soon."
Of course, everyone began to gather their top bunk items and rush out through the airplane.
A couple minutes later, after waiting for everyone to get off, I collected my belongings and got off the plane and into the airport.
Dragging my luggage with me, I saw a sign that read:
운송 서비스 : Transportation Service
I smiled at the lady behind the counter.
"Hi... May I get a taxi to Seoul?" I smiled politely.
The lady nodded. "Ne. Certainly. The taxi will be waiting for you in the front."
"Thank you!"
Gathering my items, I head out and wait outside for the taxi. I took a look around seeing business women holding expensive bagging and men in ties and leather shoes. I sighed.
Am I making the right choice?
I was born in America. My dad is American, and my mom is Korean. They both got married and had me. Twenty years later, here I am in my mother's country, sitting under a cherry blossom tree wondering if this is what I really want to do with my life.
My dad said he wanted me to persue my dream of music. I always enjoyed singing, dancing and preforming music. Yet I'm always shy in front of people.
As for my mom, she wanted me to focus on studying and becoming a successful business woman. I guess I was never interested of dressing up in pencil skirts and fluffy blouses.
My mom and I got into a fight two days before my departure to Korea. I didn't even say a word to her. She didn't even drop me off with my dad to the airport.
I don't know if this is something to feel guilty about. I'm doing what I choose to. Living my life the way I want.
I feel as if I let my mother down. Yet my father fully supports me to come to the Talent Academy here in Korea.
The taxi honked as I jumped, startled.
"Please let me help you with those," the driver helped load my belongings into the back trunk.
"Thank you." I smiled politely and got into the back seat.
The driver began driving as I looked out of the window, admiring the beauty of the city. Huge skyscrapers, imagine them all lit up at night! Wahhh! I'm so excited to be living in Korea!
"We have now arrived at your destination."
"Thank you," I paid the driver, got my items and stood in front of the gate.
I peered through the iron gates.
This is where my adventure will begins!
