You wanted to sleep in to give your body the rest it deserved after a long school week and so many late nights of volleyball, but you still woke up far too early and found yourself sitting on your bed with a blanket wrapped around yourself as you sipped on some tea.
It was impossible to get your mind to think about anything other than Asahi. Was it too early for you to be feeling this way about someone? When was actually a good time then?
After your realization last night of how much that boy truly caught your eye, he was living on your mind more than ever. You thought back to last night repeatedly. His body just seemed to fit well with yours as you had held him. The way he had slightly sunk into that hug made you keep on thinking back to it over and over again. This had to be something, right?
Once the time started to inch closer to the time that you had agreed to, you decided that it was time to get ready.
Getting ready was for sure the worst battle you would face of the day -- hopefully. About an hour of panic over what kind of outfit to wear. You had no idea what the plans were actually going to be. What if you overdressed? Underdressing would be even worse but overdressing could also be embarrassing.
Asahi had seen you sweaty and in some of your worst athletic wear, so this almost felt like you were making a first impression again. He had never seen you as you normally dressed.
You froze as you finally put on the outfit that you had settled on. Thinking about it that way was extremely terrifying, but it also made you realize that you had never seen him in his normal clothes. What if he was even more attractive?
You groaned as you smoothed down your shirt. Were you down that badly for him? How could you let a boy have such a grasp over your heart?
Well, with Asahi it didn't feel so bad to be falling. He was so sweet to you, always giving you guidance when you needed help and the most encouragement all of the time. Both of you had been benefiting off of your shared time in the gym. It all felt so right for you to be having these feelings.
Those thoughts of him and his warm attitude and heart helped you in calming your nerves as you put on makeup. Any makeup at all would be different than what he usually saw so you did your usual routine.
You smiled as you looked in the mirror. Your nerves were threatening to break down the exterior you were putting up, but it was only Asahi you would be facing so it would be okay. He would make it okay.
As the clock read a single digit again, you made your way outside with minimal questioning from your mom when you said you were just going out with volleyball friends. You weren't technically lying, but you didn't feel comfortable sharing every detail with her just yet.
You made your way out the door right as Asahi was making his way down your sidewalk. He stopped in his tracks and stared for a few seconds before saying, "Uh, hi, (y/n)."
You smiled back, a little proud that he seemed flustered. "Hello, Asahi. What are our plans for today?"
He smiled now as you walked closer to him and started making your way down the sidewalk. He turned to follow by your side as you continued to walk. "I'm not sure," he answered as he stuck his hands in his pockets. "I was thinking we could get lunch somewhere if you're hungry?"
You nodded as you looked up at him. His hair was more neatly tucked away now than when you usually saw him after his practices. Overall, he obviously looked much more put together. It made your heart flutter as you looked at his more casual outfit. It was just jeans and a t-shirt, but the way that that t-shirt hugged his muscles made you want to scream. It was a hot day so he couldn't have had more layers without overheating, but you weren't going to complain at the moment. "Lunch sounds great," you said.
The path changed to that towards one of a local cafe. As you walked next to each other, it was clear that he was the type of person that would drift while walking as he kept on getting closer to you before his shoulder would rub yours and he would apologize and take a step away. "It's alright," you would say with a smile.
His face looked nervous as you would say those words, and he hardly allowed his eyes to meet yours. You thought back to last night as you watched his eyes dance around as you were used to them doing. That's when you suddenly realized that he never drifted like this when you guys walked home from practice.
You looked over to him again, this time differently. Your eyes drifted from his face, down his muscular arms until you found his hand that was drifting by his side. It wasn't working its way through his hair or scratching his neck as it usually did, instead it was hanging there and he kept on glancing at it over and over. Every once in a while it would drift outwards, but then immediately move back to his side.
You wanted to giggle as you watched the internal battle he was having over and over. Instead, you looked forward and reached your own hand over to where you now knew his was waiting.
His hand fit around yours perfectly. It was warm, but not to the point that it was uncomfortable with the heat. It was comforting, really. You looked back at him and offered him your biggest smile as you watched him look down at your hands with his mouth a little bit agape.
He looked back at you and gave a little smile back. "I wanted to say this earlier," he said as he finally met your eyes. "You look really nice, (y/n)."
