Chapter 3: First Time Adventuring

Throne Room

No POV:

It was a new day for Y/N and the other chosen heroes of Melromarc, today they would be forming parties and going out to fight monsters. They would be doing this before the Waves of Calamity would begin and the real challenge would happen. Normally Y/N wasn't all to sure about forming a party but there wasn't much point in arguing over it. Now, Y/N and the others were standing in the throne room as a large gathering of people stood in front of the king.

"Today is the start of your adventure heroes, today you will go out into the world and get stronger to face off against the Waves of Calamity" the king said

Y/N was beginning to get extremely impatient, he didn't exactly care all that much for a speech. He just wanted to get out and get stronger so he could defeat the waves and get back home.

"Now, all of these volunteers will select which one of you five heroes they want to form a party with" the king said

Once the signal was given, all of the adventures in the room began to line up with the hero they wanted to form a party with. Right away four people lined up behind Y/N, as Y/N got a look at them, he could tell what class they were. There was a large man with a shield and what looked like a greatsword, he must of been a paladin. Next up was a short guy who had a battle axe and hammer, he must of been a warrior and blacksmith of some sort. Next was a woman with a large hat and staff with red orb on it, Y/N knew right away she was the mage of the group. Lastly was a young girl with a book in her hand, the cross around her neck gave her away as a cleric.

When everything was said and done, Y/N looked over and saw that everyone else had formed a party with the volunteers. Unfortunately something was amiss, Naofumi was the only one out of the five of them who had no one. Not a single person chose to form a party with Naofumi, he was all alone. This was a surprise to Y/N but not anyone else, the king tried to act surprised but he did a bad job of hiding it.

"Oh my, this was not expected, but I did have a fear that something like this might happen" the king said

"What do you mean by that?" Naofumi asked confused

"It appears that a rumor has spread of your lack of knowledge of this world and lack of combat power" the king answered

Hearing that, Y/N thought back to last night were and him and the others found out about Naofumi not ever playing an online game. As they talked, Y/N couldn't help but shake the feeling someone was listening on them. He did have a perception skill and it was high, so maybe someone was listening in on them.

"What can he do, its not like he go out there alone without a party" Y/N said

"Yeah, I need a party if I'm going to level up and get stronger" Naofumi said

"I am sorry for this, it is extremely unfortunate" the king said

"I only have a shield, I have no combat power, how am I supposed to fight monsters?" Naofumi asked

"Why do we even need parties, why don't all of us heroes work together to get stronger?" I asked

"I am sorry but that would be impossible, it is said that the five heroes cannot form a party together for they will not get any stronger because their weapons counteract one another" the king answered

Y/N couldn't believe that, neither could Naofumi, Y/N had a strong feeling that the king was possibly lying

"If that can't happen then what I am supposed to do?" Naofumi asked angered

"Hey, if we can't form a party together then what about giving one of our party members to Naofumi" Y/N suggested

"I am okay with that but your party members would have to decide whether or not to do that" the king said
