Chapter 16

Day 4

There was something soft and ticklish on her nose. It smelled faintly like her almond-scented conditioner and though she had the urge to scratch her nose, she buried her face deeper into it, inhaling deeply. She slowly opened her eyes and all she could see were brunette locks obscuring her vision. Shifting her eyes downwards, she saw a pair of eyes looking back at her.

She smiled lazily, feeling giddy at being treated to the sight. "G'morning, unnie." It really felt like a good morning, waking up next to someone you love.

She was greeted by a close-eyed, toothy smile. "Good morning. Did you have a good sleep?"

Jeongyeon hummed in agreement. "Best sleep I've had in a while." They were still intertwined on the bed with Nayeon on her side, her arm around her shoulders. Nayeon's leg was placed over Jeongyeon's, half straddling her lower body. Jeongyeon's arm around her shoulders pulled Nayeon closer so she could plant a kiss on her forehead. Neither wanted to get up yet or even part so they stayed like that.

Nayeon sighed, feeling relaxed. "You're so comfortable, Jeongyeon. I wonder how I can manage to sleep at night without cuddling you."

The latter chuckled in a raspy voice. "Don't be silly, you sleep fine. I get what you mean by cuddling though." Nayeon was really cuddly, it almost felt like sleeping with a giant teddy bear. They've slept in one bed together multiple times before but they usually slept apart on both sides of the bed and sometimes with a pillow in between them. Jeongyeon couldn't believe she hadn't done this in the past when she had the chance. She wasn't lying when she said last night was the best sleep she's had in a while.

Sure, sleeping with a neck brace on was already difficult- twice more if you have someone sleeping beside you but they managed to make it work and make it comfortable. Jeongyeon could only imagine what it would feel like to sleep beside Nayeon without the brace on- how much closer can they be.

Nayeon tucked her head deeper into her hear, inhaling almond scent also present on her own hair. "You smell so good, too. You'd make the perfect girlfriend if you weren't mean to me all the time."

"Don't make me push you off the bed, unnie." Jeongyeon then teased her by placing a hand on her arm and pushing playfully. Nayeon whined and clung to her more to prevent her being pushed off. The younger girl's hand around Nayeon digging into the latter's side, making her squeal and squirm. Nayeon tried to pull away but Jeongyeon held onto her arm while her tickling hand dug deeper. "Yoo Jeongyeon, hajima!" she screeched, though she had a giggle in her tone.

"What did we say about funny business, you two?" a voice came from the doorway and both sat up the bed in panic- with Jeongyeon struggling a little- to see Seoyeon with a wide, creepy smile on her face.

Nayeon blushed at being caught like that and tried to pat down and brush through her disheveled hair. Jeongyeon growled at her sister. In annoyance, she grabbed the first thing she could reach- which was her pillow- and threw it at her. Seoyeon yelped as she jumped to the side to avoid it.

"Unnie, I do not want to deal with your crap so early in the morning. You have three seconds before I kick your ass out of here."

Seoyeon rolled her eyes, unfazed by the threat. "Whatever. Eomma told me to wake you both up, breakfast is ready. But if you'd rather stay here and tickle each other, who am I to stop you?" she walked away with a little wave to them, unaware of Nayeon holding down Jeongyeon. The latter had her alarm clock in hand, ready to throw it towards her obnoxious sister.

With her arms around Jeongyeon's waist to keep the irritated girl's arms to her side, Nayeon whispered in her ear, "Give me the alarm clock, Jeongyeon." She waited until Jeongyeon stopped struggling in her embrace then slowly removed her arms around her, being cautious in case Jeongyeon starts making a fuss again.
