AMOS
I had work the next day and this time, I didn't have that kiss distracting me. I managed to work efficiently and saw a decent amount of patients before my break. The only embarrassing thing that had happened up to that very point was Dr. Wang checking in on me to make sure everything was in check because, according to him, I looked like I'd been in an elephant stampede.
I'd sent Miles a text the previous day after I'd reached home to let him know what my number was and we ended up holding a fairly long conversation that was also decently engaging. Throughout that conversation, I came to know a lot about him that I initially hadn't known.
He told me about how he had met Micah when he was a kid because he was attempting to climb a tree and Micah ended up pushing him off the branch which landed him in the hospital and with a bunch of stitches on the same day.
It made me laugh because I could definitely see Micah doing that, even now as a fully grown man.
I'd even ended up introducing Alex and Miles and we'd made a group-chat. Alex and Miles ended up hitting it off pretty well and it was endearing to see how Miles was finally coming out of his shell around us - it was like watching a puppy grow, as strange as that analogy is.
The other residents were busier that day so I had to spend my break by myself, which I didn't really mind. I spent the rest of my time having a sandwich Alex had so kindly packed for me so as to make up for not being able to drop me off at work that day. I even managed to organize a bunch of my notes whilst eating which I was proud of.
I ended up finishing off with everything I had to do five minutes prior to my break ending - and in those five minutes, I lacked a proper idea as to how I should spend that precious time. So I resorted to listening to music with my earphones plugged into both my ears whilst I scrolled through the day's news.
Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder, pulling me out of the dream-like state I was in. I quickly pulled my earphones off, switched my phone off and set it aside. Then, when I turned around to look at who could possibly be looking for me, my heart dropped into my stomach after having performed three consecutive somersaults in my chest.
"Micah?"
I could barely even bring myself to say his name.
"Look, uh," he began, observing his surroundings frantically. "Can we talk somewhere private?"
"Sure, but where?" I questioned, unable to gather my thoughts which were scattered all over the place at that moment. In response, he grabbed a hold of my hand and pulled me into the first room that he saw, which ended up being the storage room which would've usually had doctors swarming around but was surprisingly empty that day.
Now the Gods of luck were in my favour.
"What do you want to talk about?" I questioned awkwardly, shifting my weight. "You can't just come in here out of nowhere and ask to speak to me without scheduling an appointment, you know that. This is a hospital."
He said nothing, only stood and stared at me so I continued:
"Or you could've sent me a text notifying me about your arrival so I could've had some time to prepare myself. This is all so out of the blue - and plus, my break ends in around five minutes. You know my work schedule so you should've waited until I was out of-"
And then he slammed his lips against mine.
Since I was taken aback by the sudden action, I didn't react. He, on the other hand, cupped my face with both his hands and backed me up against the wall behind me. Instinctively, I placed both my hands on his shoulders and felt myself easing into the kiss before I began to return it, tightening my grip on his shirt.
His signature scent overtook me and I could feel myself getting dizzier, my head and heart caught in a daze.
He pressed himself up against me and I could feel the kiss escalating as his hands roamed down to hold onto my waist, grabbing onto it so tightly I was sure his fingertips left marks on the skin underneath them, separated by a thin piece of cloth.
Eventually, I gathered my thoughts and pushed him away, "What are you doing? We can't be doing this at the workplace."
Both our lips were red and almost swollen from what we'd just done. He ran his fingers through his hair with a sigh, "I've been thinking about you ever since that kiss - I've been wanting to do it again so badly, I couldn't help myself. I can't help myself around you."
I looked up at him, startled at the sudden confession, "Micah.. what are we?"
He heaved a sigh before taking both my hands in his and looking down at me passionately, "I don't know what you feel for me but I want you, Amos. You have no idea how much I like you - and I know this might be a little too sudden, so you don't have to answer me right now. I'll let you think this over and when you know what you want to say to me, you can meet me at that spot of ours."
And with that, he let go of me and left.
