Bubbles checked the time before heading out of her room. It read 12 pm. Blossom should be getting back from her turn patrolling the city.
Making her way over to sit on the couch to wait for her sister to get back she felt a vibration coming from her costume's back pocket.
All three of them had their own unique costumes that compliment their titles and roles, Blossom's was a very professional looking body suit. It was pale pink and looked very difficult to get into but it really screamed "leader" so it was worth it. Buttercup's costume was more on the street style side since she had on a bunch of leather as her costume from her pants up to her jacket. But Bubbles guessed it was to add a more intimidating look to her "toughest fighter" role. Now as for Bubbles. Well Bubbles had to be the one that people looked towards for a warm smile and a friendly face. So for her they had a simple crisp white button up shirt tucked into a baby blue plaid skirt. A typical schoolgirls outfit. If you ask her about it she'll say that she loves it and thinks it's very cute. But deep down she doesn't like it all too much. Sure it's cute and it's her style but nobody ever takes her seriously in it. Not the people of Townsville, not the villains, not even her sisters, and at this point not even herself. She knows it's not the designers fault, she has to show off her role of "the joy and laughter" somehow anyway.
She's broken from her thoughts when she hears the front door jingling. Blossom has returned in pristine shape except for the sleepiness in her eyes. There hasn't been much action going on at night, which is good so Bubbles can take her time to talk to the civilians that stay up late.
Getting up from her seat on the couch she and Blossom exchange a quick wave before heading off. Tonight she decided to take a scarf so she doesn't get too cold. Wearing skirts to school almost every day helped her get used to the cold throughout the years. It was one of the perks of being highly into fashion and cute clothes.
Quickly making her way to the center of Townsville, she sets off to greet the people she sees. This was a daily thing for her. The people didn't seem to mind this anyway, in fact they actually seemed to enjoy her company. This made her happy as she really loved talking to people and making them feel comfortable. She was one of their beloved heroes of course. But she couldn't help but feel inferior when people have her head pats or asked her to be careful around the dangerous parts of the city. Bubbles knew they were just being friendly and trying to protect her, but she was supposed to be a hero that didn't need to be worried about. What could she be doing wrong?
After grabbing a quick milkshake that was offered to her by a kind barista, she made her way to the dangerous part of Townsville. This particular part of the city used to scare her in her earlier years of crime fighting. But now it was basically just a normal part of Townsville for her. Nothing new ever happens here anymore. Not after the defeat of HIM. It could just be because the other criminals are too scared of getting caught nowadays since the Powerpuff girls are getting stronger as the years go by. Even Bubbles herself was feared despite being seen as the weakest puff.
She barely took 4 steps into the street when she heard a pretty horrific screeching. Bubbles has fought countless unbelievable monsters in her times. This was just another encounter with one of those.
Abandoning her drink in a nearby bin she quickly made her way over to an alleyway where she heard the noise. Having super hearing can come in handy for things like this. She rounded the corner but found nothing in sight. Quickly, but also quietly, she stepped through all of the discarded trash. If it was a monster she surely would've seen it by now. And it was too horrific to have come from a human.
Just then a putrid smell hit her nose. She wrinkled her nose and pulled up her scarf to cover it. It was an awful smell. Nothing like the trash that were mere inches from her. This smell was metallic and rotten. It was so strong too, she could still smell it through her scarf. She decided it was practically pointless to cover her nose if she could still smell the awful smell so she readjusted the scarf around her neck and started looking around at her surroundings. There was nothing unusual anywhere. So where was the smell coming from?
