It had been a few days since Mrs Potts agreed to help Sam, and you didn’t hear from them after you left the meeting. Some girl in the lab thought about satellites and finding people once, but you didn’t look into it. You were fine with the idea of just walking around the building, far from anyone that could control fire or get invisible. 

You were so scared of these people, even if you knew they were more or less just like you. And you never liked it when people were afraid of your powers. You tried to convince yourself that you weren’t dangerous and that you had never done anything illegal. Maybe in other circumstances you would have. But it wasn’t any of your business and you were just hoping Sam was telling the truth about wanting to help them. 

Also, you didn’t want to get fired again. 

Happy was involved in all of that too. You noticed him being locked up in his office a lot, and most of the time you were just texting. You had taken the habit of scanning his room before getting in to talk to him. The last time you didn’t, he was furious. Not at you, but at his phone. Although he probably got mad at you when you left his office laughing. 

You should ask him why he was always so angry when talking to Bucky on the phone. Or why he was going on talking to him if he hated him so much. Granted, he could be super scary at first, and he had a record of killing a bunch of innocent people, but it was all so complicated that maybe they could just move on from that. And you had to admit that Lucy was right. He was kind of good looking. But you didn’t think Happy would care much about that. 

You didn’t stop at Lucy’s desk when you walked through the lobby. Mrs Potts called you, and you clearly didn’t have the time to talk about another one of your friend’s bad dates. 

The guy from the lab ? He just got her to his place and tried to get her naked after thirty minutes. Shocker. Not to you, though. You had warned her but she went anyway, ignoring your advice. She swore to never go on a date ever again. The next day she was smiling from ear to ear because Gary, whoever that was, was taking her to see a movie. Turned out Gary already had a girlfriend. She swore to never go on a date ever again, again. That girl had even less luck with men than you. 

You realized you hadn’t been on a date for a while. At least not since you came back a few months ago. There had been a lot of bedroom activity to avoid dealing with the craziness of the fact that you disappeared for years and came back in an even more messed up world, but you didn’t really date anyone. 

It was pointless anyway. How were you supposed to enjoy your time with a man when you knew exactly what was on his head ? It was almost never pretty, and in the end you had the worst case of trust issues there could ever be. 

Maybe once you should try and not get in the guy’s head for a bit. You laughed to yourself just thinking about it. There was no way you could refrain yourself from doing it. 

You left Julia the coffee she asked you when she said you needed to come over and you entered the office.

Mrs Potts was looking at you pretty intensely. You tried to think about something you might have done wrong. Then she smiled at you and you just got confused. 

“YN. How much do you like working with the security team ?” Why would she ask you that ? Did they tell her something ? Were you being fired again ? Why ? 

“It’s great, Ma’am. I’m saving you a lot of money on office supplies.” She laughed and showed you the chair in front of her. 

“Brilliant. There hasn't been any other incident since the last time ? You’re not pushing too much ? Are you still training ? I know Happy has been… busy, for the past few days. How are you doing on your own ?” Well, that was a lot of questions. Where was she going with it ?
