Sam had done an amazing job with Adam. Once he stopped being afraid of everyone, he had been of great help. He didn’t know much about that Power Broker guy, but enough to keep things going.

Thanks to him, a few more people had been brought in. Even though most of them were very hostile and had been put in super restricted cells, you were immensely grateful that they weren’t walking free anymore.

After a while, he had been given the right to walk around freely -even if there had to be someone with him at all times it was still an improvement-, and you talked together a few times. You told him you were helping Sam too, and you had conversations about how scary it could be sometimes.

He agreed to never use his power outside of his meetings with Bruce, and to your knowledge, he had respected his part of the deal. He was given a second chance in life, and you were quite pleased he took it.

Sam and Bucky finally began to keep you updated after each interrogation you were involved in. Most of the time it was just to tell you there was absolutely nothing new, but on the rare occasions when you had proven yourself useful, it gave you an excuse to celebrate with Lucy.

She was always more than eager to go out and have some drinks, and you liked the feeling of having a friend like her. After a while, you had completely stopped getting in her head. She was already telling you everything anyway.

As of today, you were going to a meeting with Happy and Mrs Potts.

She had finally agreed to meet the big heads of the government, but she asked you to be there. She also made you wear a tie. Happy usually let you go only with the suit, but this was really important and you had to look the part. Funny enough, he didn’t let you carry a gun.

Someone led you to an empty meeting room. Mrs Potts sat where she was supposed to while Happy and you stood behind her.

Your job here was pretty much the same as the usual. You had to scan everyone quickly, then wait a few minutes and repeat. Until the end of the meeting. You had been doing this for weeks, and the hard part was only the amount of sexist jokes you had to endure. Your boss was probably the most powerful person in the world right now and yet, those men were judging her by the type of genitals she possessed.

All the important men arrived a few minutes later, and they started talking about how the government was going to back down from any ‘Avengers case’ as they called it, just because Stark Industries was back to do their job for them. They would, however, be the ones to take credit for it.

Mrs Potts agreed to everything they wanted, telling them that her motives were only to help. Happy and you exchanged a smile when she told them that she ‘didn’t need any public statement for the people to know who was making sure they were safe in the end’. After that, your job became much more enjoyable.

In exchange, she got the only thing she asked for. Complete power concerning Sam’s case. She had been granted access to any necessary resource to help get things done quicker. Some days she seemed to like being involved in all that again. That didn’t prevent her from denying you the right to do anything more than going to Sam’s interrogations. You truly appreciated her concerns, but it was getting a little boring to your taste.

“That wasn’t so bad.” She let out when you all got in the car.

“They all think you’re a bitch, Ma’am.”

“Then it was even better than I imagined.” You looked at her and laughed. “That’s the only way they’re going to listen to me.” She smiled and looked back at the building. “So this is where Sam is taking you all the time.”
