Renee declared those words so easily.

What was it called?

Ah, yes. ' Talking big '

Protect him? How? She didn't even know kungfu...

" Is the soup alright? Here, I made sandwiches."

Looking at the sandwiches served in front of her, Renee's full resolve came back like lightning.

Holding the plate with a very serious expression, she declared out of the blue: " I promise I would save you."

Hawk stared at her in disbelief for a second before giving a subtle smile.

Right after they woke up, both of them had to talk about what happened last night.

From reading the novel, Renee remembered that there were a few books of self defence and the likes lying on a cabinet from one of the rooms. There were knives on the kitchen and even guns on the storage room.

All they need to do now is to learn how to use them...

Actually, the option of leaving this place passed through Renee's mind but both of them were unfamiliar with the routes of this place.

This is one of the private properties owned by the underworld.

At this time, the government knows of the big threat these underworld mafias, specifically that old man's group hold within their palms.

10 years ago, they had to agree to their conditions to leave these private properties out of their compass. Meaning: Whatever things happen, or occur in this place, they would not butt themselves in. The government rules is something that cannot be applied here.

These private properties are basically their bases which they hold within full control.

In exchange, they would stop threatening the governent's power.

The first few months after the said agreement, several secret forces of the government had tried to sneak in. However, only one end has come to them: death.

They were sure of it. For those people they sent had only come out without their bodies.

The old man's group sent the government with their severed heads, put carefully in a decorative present box...

It was very fancily decorated, that it made them almost spit blood from their mouths.

Any ways the government could think of, they were unable to succeed.

They didn't know where their power came from.

They didn't know who exactly are they.

They didn't know the extent of their capabilities.

All they know was that they were powerful enough to blow up a whole continent.

Why?

This is what they used to threaten them into agreeing their request.

Knowing that fact, Renee was sure both of them couldn't even step out of this property alive.

Luck on not getting captured while running away from her 'family' while being ran after by an entire army was one thing.

Although those soldiers were running after them, they didn't have any plans on hurting her in any way.

But to run away from here, too?

Those guys wouldn't even bother to chase them. Their high-tech weapoms could just shoot them in their stead.

And for goodness sake, I'll say it again: Both of them are kids!

Little, helples, poor kids.

It's like she ran away from a tiger's den to the lion's den.

According to the novel, this underworld group would fall into Hawk's control in the future.

This is the perfect power for him to hold as a villain.

For the female lead's family are their natural enemy.

For after the male lead would gain approval and recognition from that female lead's family, he would be the one to successsfuly put and end to this long lasting fight.

...and Hawk would be killed.

Before that happened, Renee recalled how Hawk survived this test in the novel.

She suddenly thought of something...

" Little bird!", after swallowing the sandwich, she called out. " I know of a better way."

" What way?", Hawk was kind of confused.

" What if we say we want to go back now? I mean out of this place, just like what the old man wanted us to the first day we came?",  she suggested.

Now that she think about it, intead of killing both of them on the stop, they were 'kind' enough to tell and even 'escort' them to go out.

...maybe because he knew I was a major general's daughter and spared me for consideration.

She should've followed him and went out back then!

However, if she hadn't been adamant, she wouldn't have discovered the little villain's godly cooking skills..

" They won't let us.", Hawk immediately refused. " The assassin told me the first night he visited that we should've just left. Now, the only way we could go back is to either survive, or go out successfuly as corpses. "

Renee pursed her lips.

Both of them were unsure whether the plan of learning self defense and to use those weapons would work.

Personally, Hawk didn't like the idea of holding weapons.

He might not show it on the surface but he death of his mother is still fresh in his mind.

He ought not to forgive whoever has done those unforgivable actions to his mother.

" If we--", he suddenly stopped.

Buzzz---

Familiar, painful ringing suddenly sounded from his head and his vision turned blurry for a moment.

Renee was immersed in her own thoughts that she didn't notice.

Hawk's icy blue eyes suddenly narrowed and it turned even frostier.

He sat still and continued looking at Renee.

He stared at her like his eyes were digging deeper.

Mysterious thoughts ran through his mind.

After a few seconds, he slowly sat up and went to his room.

I need to write it down.

Renee was kind of surprised when he abruptly stood and went away, but said nothing and continued eating.

She reorganized her thoughts.

There is no other choice. Both of them can only stay here and survive until the 15 assassination tests was over.

She looked at the finished bowl of soup softly.

Hold on little bird, I will try to keep you going through the same path.
