By this time, Evelina had gotten all the gear she needed to become a death eater. A new cloak with her mask sat in the farthest drawer, still trying to hide the madness she dedicated her life to. She and Draco's conversations were dry, saying nothing more than a few texts before ending the conversation silently.
The more days she lied in bed, the more she realized that maybe this was the real her. Every time she tried being nice to anyone that sided with muggle-borns treated her like trash. "Rape, cheating, fake friends. They all were friends with that muggle-born, Hermione", she muttered to herself. "Muggleborns are the reason her life is such a mess. But it doesn't give me a reason to want to kill them. They were my friends at one time too. I don't- I don't want to hurt anyone."
She was torn by guilt, morals, and revenge. Would all the things people did worth killing? What was the point of pushing the inevitable away? Either she was going to die fighting for what's right or kill others to save herself. What had happened to her life? These were the only choices Evelina had left. "I just want to go back to the muggle world!", she screamed before throwing her wand at the broken blinds she wrecked in previous days.
After an angry outburst of emotions, a little notification rang out of Eve's phone. It was a message from Draco asking if she would be in Diagon Alley today? "I wanted to stop by and see you in Diagon Alley after this stupid initiation thing I have to go to. I'm finally going to be better than Potter after this! Anyways, we are about to leave so talk to you later love.", the text read.
"I'll see if I can meet you there but my schedule is pretty full today. I hope you have a good time though", she responded before letting out a heavy sigh. "How is he happy? Does he not realize that this could kill both of us? Oh god, will I have to be there?"
Within that minutes, her father yelled to grab their stuff and make their way to Knockturn Alley. The apparition was easier this time, less painful on her sight and stomach. With a little stumble in her step, she placed the cloak and mask over her to disguise her identity.
When she walked in, the store was still as dull as before. Old antiques, weird jars, and the fancy-looking closet from the last ceremony. Death eaters talked amongst themselves while Eve stood in the middle, causing the least attention to herself. Once everything was prepared, the chimes at the top of the store's door rang.
Draco and his parents had walked in, him looking as happy as ever. "It's disgusting how proud he is! I hope he knows that this isn't all rainbows. For the last two weeks I'd been given the task to perform Crucio while he trots around on his high horse", Evelina muttered to herself.
While walking towards the group, he took a large whiff from the room. It was floral perfume, something Evelina wore daily. "What the?! Evelina-", he asked to himself before being interrupted.
"Lucius, Narcissa, Draco. You finally made it. I assume you have informed the boy of what your wrongdoings caused. If not-", Voldemort stopped. "I will tell you. Draco, because of your father's poor attempt to retrieve the prophet for me, I want you to kill Dumbledore by the end of this school year. Bellatrix will be ready when you do. Now give me your arm!"
He looked at his parents in disbelief. This imitation wasn't a promotion; it was a curse. A plot to kill Dumbledore while killing himself.
"Did I stutter, boy? GIVE ME your arm!", the Dark Lord yelled in Draco's face.
At once, he flung his arm into Voldemort's cold hands. Same forearm as Eve. His arm squirmed and his eyes traced over each mask, trying to see if Evelina was actually at the initiation. She couldn't bear to watch him go through the same pain as her. Right when his veins turned black from the mark, she slipped away and whispered to her father, "I'll be in Diagon Alley. I can't do this right now. Not watching him like this."
Soon after, each family left the shop one by one to lower suspicions. Once many other families left, Draco and his parents escaped the antique shop. Instead of staying with his parents as he should've, he covered his arm and ran over to Diagon Alley. Evelina was lurking through Gambol and Japes joke shop when Draco popped up from around the corner.
"Ev, I finally found you. You weren't answering my text or phone calls. Is everything alright?", he asked, laughing to play off the tension of this situation.
She placed back the objects in her hand and looked at her phone. "Sorry love. I didn't realize you were trying to text me. I suppose my phone was on silent. Didn't want to draw a lot of attention to myself in case I knew anyone here." Eve looked to see if the dark mark was exposed then back to Draco's eyes. " Is your arm ok? The veins on your wrist are darker than usual, almost black."
He pulled down the sleeves of his suit then looked around the shop. "I must be coming down with something. Nothing a little charm can fix, yes? Don't worry now, we could go back to the Manor if you'd like. It's getting late and I reckon your father wouldn't mind catching dinner with us." Draco took her hand and the items she originally was holding and brought them to the front. He placed a few galleons on the table and told the employee, "Just keep the change. Thanks" before walking out.
Both fathers were bickering about the meeting when the couple walked up. "Severus, good to see you. Would you care to join us for dinner? Mother won't bother asking the house elves for one more plate." He turned around quickly and swore that someone was staring at them. "Of course you'd like to come", he rushed. "Let's just go."
The two families rushed their way back to the manor and had a nice pasta dinner ready for when they arrived. They gossiped about the elves, to school, then to Lucius's "job" at the Ministry; even though he went to Azkaban and lost that so-called "job" of his.
Soon enough, Eve and Draco were able to sneak up to his bedroom. He was quick to take off his shirt and Eve noticed the mark. While they were making out on his bed and Draco tried lifting her blouse, she pushed him to the side and grabbed her wand.
"Is everything ok? Are you not comfortable right now?", he worried, grabbing his button up off the ground.
"No. No. Not at all long", she giggled awkwardly. "I just have to... change into something more in the mood."
He sighed and threw his shirt back onto the ground. "Ok", he laughed. "If it's ever too much for you, just tell me. I'm not- making you do this, am I?"
She kissed his forehead then headed towards the bathroom. "Of course not, love. I'll always tell you if I'm uncomfortable. I trust you."
Eve locked the door behind her and pointed the wand to her mark. Using a disillusion charm, the mark was able to blend into the skin, making it impossible to see. After she was done stressing over her death eater ways, she slipped into a lace matching set that she hid in the drawer just in case Draco and she wanted to do something special. Eve walked out and his eyes glazed over her body. She slowly walked over and he placed her onto the bed.
"Are you sure you're ok with this", he whispered. "I don't want to rush you."
"Not at all", she laughed as they started to touch each other. One thing led to another and the two got into action.
Two hours had passed and Eve lay on Draco's chest, nuzzled close to his body. "One day, I hope to live in a tiny house. Probably a small one on the coast. Or an apartment in the skies of New York City. I heard it was an amazing muggle city", Eve whispered before realizing she was talking about muggles.
"Maybe. I don't like anything with muggles but a house on the coast seems nice."
Eve sighed and mumbled, "I want a kid. One that doesn't care about blood status and money. Just a normal wizarding kid with no worries. Who knows, maybe we could send them to Ilvermorny instead. I've only been to Hogwarts for a year and it's already falling apart."
Draco went to respond but when he looked down, Evelina was practically drooling. Her head sat gently and you could see it go up and down as Draco took slow breaths in an attempt not to wake her. He leaned down to kiss her forehead then smiled. "One day, I'll do it. We could go live in a house near the coast and watch the sunset fall on the water. No worries. Just me, you, and the child we would have in the future." Draco paused for a second and thought to himself, "What if she finds out it was originally a dare? If she forgets everything we have because of this? It shouldn't matter because I care for her. I love you, Evelina."
