Weeks had gone by and Evelina still wasn't the same as her old self. She no longer cared about small details and things hardly seemed to faze her. The only thing Eve learned from the experience with Mclaggen was how to completely shut off your emotion. Thankfully, her bruises had faded and the once deep cuts were now scars. She hadn't thought about the overdose since that day. Though the times have been rough, Draco was always there for her, all the Slytherins were.
It was a warm spring morning but her happiness was slowly crushed when Draco came in screaming, "I think Potter might be expelled... Well, hopefully."
"What are you talking about? And why are you up so early? Breakfast doesn't start for another twenty minutes", groaned Evelina after grabbing her phone from the nightstand.
Draco jumped beside her and kissed her on the forehead before proceeding to say, "Umbridge is the new headmistress! And with me being on the Inquisitorial Squad, Potter's group will be gone in no time. We have some accusations about them already but she's interrogating them all, today."
She flipped away from Draco and asked, "Why'd you kiss me? Nevermind. I still don't understand why you joined that stupid club anyways. I hate her but almost everyone in Slytherin is in that group." Evelina paused for a second and sat up. "Get out now. I have to change."
He closed the room door and when she got up, she heard banter from the other side of the door. "Go ask her already. I can't, Blaise. You're such a pussy. Fine, I'll give you guys a little show."
While Evelina was trying to get her shirt on, Draco stumbled through and leaned against her nightstand. "Yes Draco? I heard you were talking to Theo and Blaise outside. You have to make it a little less obvious next time."
"Um-how much did you hear?"
"Not enough to understand the conversation", she laughed. "Why did you come in?"
He looked her up and down then  grinned. "Do you want to meet me at the Astronomy Tower tonight?"
She chuckled and finished flattening her shirt before looking at him. "Are you asking me on a date, Draco Malfoy? That's very flattering."
Draco licked his lips and made eye contact with her. "I mean, if you want to perceive it like that. I'm just saying that after the feast I'm sneaking out to the Astronomy Tower if you care to join me."
"You got a deal, Malfoy. I'll be in the Astronomy Tower by eight and if you're not there before then, I'm leaving." She smiled and walked past Draco who was a little stunned about what just happened. When Evelina opened the door, Blaise, Daphne, and Pansy fell onto the ground. "Wow, you needed the whole Inquisitorial Squad to ask me out. That's just sad. Anyways, I'm going to breakfast if anyone wants to join in."
Theo ran with a small firework in hand. "I'm late but congratulations love birds! My boy, Draco, did it! Come on Pansy, Blaise; dance with me. I knew he would do it one day! Wait-why aren't we celebrating? And where's Evelina?"
"Could you calm down, she just left. And you weren't supposed to bring the sparklers till tonight. Merlin, do you ever listen when we are in the common  room?"
The rest of the day went on well, except for Umbridge being headmistress of course. While she was in class, people from Dumbledore's army were repeatedly taken out. Eve questioned herself the whole day because of one quote. "First off, I want you to join Dumbledore's Army." Her father said that before Christmas and she was trying to find out why. Was Snape trying to ambush her or was it to be closer with Potter.
There was a ton of drama during the great feast but she was able to hide from all the madness. She could overhear the divide between Dumbledore's Army on her way back to the Slytherin common room. Eve decided to change into a simple, black dress, then snuck her way up to the Astronomy Tower. When she finally made it up the steep set of stairs, Draco was laying on top of a blanket with a pillow sitting beside him. "Ehm", Evelina laughed before taking a seat next to him. "What's all this fancy stuff for? You're never this soft."
Still staring at the starry night he responded, "I asked a few people and they said you'd enjoy this. Just lie down and enjoy this, this is the only time I'll do this for you."
Evelina looked up at the night sky and tried to make out what they were looking at. She decided to skip Astronomy this year and that was a huge mistake. "Pst. What are we looking at? It looks like a big blob and that's not very romantic, isn't it? You know, you do a really bad job with this dating stuff. It's like you never dated before", she joked.
"Ev, you're a real pain in the ass sometimes." They both laughed and when Eve tried making eye contact, Draco didn't look back. "I'm really glad you said yes today because it only comes out once every fifteen years. It's my constellation, Draco." She felt so special that she was able to see his constellation but was quickly let down when Draco bursted into laughter. "You are so gullible. If you took Astronomy this year you would know that the Draco constellation is out all year long."
"Oh ok. You say I'm the ass. You seem like more of a twat then me so I don't understand why you're hating right now. Plus, why would you ask me on a date right now? It's almost the end of the year and you don't seem like the guy that would go on dates. Either that or I'm your eighth date this week."
Without hesitation, Draco got up and brought Eve to the railing. "It's a better view when you're closer up, prick. Look", he pointed while putting a hand around her waist.
She blushed and stared while Draco was enjoying the brightly lit sky. Her heart was racing, something no one was able to do since her breakup with Fred. As she looked back at the stars, he pulled her in closer and she could smell the strong cologne from Draco's hair. "Odd place to spray cologne but everyone's a little weird", she thought to herself.
"The stars shine as bright as you", he jokingly nudged her. Evelina's face emitted a very pink tone and Draco started laughing again. "Don't go sappy on me, Ev... Pathetic."
While Evelina pointed at a brighter star, Draco thought it would be hilarious to push her so that she could hang over the railing. Trying to regain balance, he grabbed her by the waist again. Their faces were closer than ever and the moon shone on their skin. "Will you be my girlfriend, Evelina? I've been friends with you this whole year and it'll be easier if I just ask the question now. I think I need you in my life, Ev."
"Wow, you finally noticed', laughed Evelina. "Of course I'll be your girlfriend."
She grabbed behind his neck and he pulled her in close, their lips touching as the moonlight sat perfectly againsttheir face.
When Evelina finally felt happy again, a few faces emerged from the Dark and small sparklers were lit around them. Theo was jumping with joy while Pansy was trying to calm him down. Theo, Pansy, Luna, and Blaise were watching the date the whole time.
"You were supposed to light them after the big kiss!", Pansy yelled. "I thought you were smart... That's why I dated you after all."
The rest of them lit their sparklers in unison and Evelina laughed at all the small gestures that Draco had put into this. "Maybe he wasn't so bad after all", she thought while uncontrollably blushing.
"I gotchu this time, Peeves! Or whoever is up there! You're not getting away that easily. Dumbledore will love hearing that students were out past curfew again. Maybe he'll tell me that I am a wizard this time. I can't be a squib, I just can't be!", Filch yelled from the stairwell. "Get them Ms. Norris!"
"Oh three we just run it. One- two-GO!", Theo and Pansy yelled in panic as the group pushed Filch out of the way so they could get back to the common room. Ms.Norris was hanging onto Theo's joggers while he yelled, "Pansy. Get her off me!"
"I can't believe I did this for you!"Blaise screamed before turning the corner to go to the Ravenclaw common room with Luna.
