You hummed quietly as you sat at your desk, scribbling down some cheesy poems you had come up with throughout the day. Some of them were about things you had seen some were about things you had heard. If you were being completely honest you really didn't know how your brain came up with this stuff. Just as you were about to scribble down another line your window flew open and a certain turtle welcomed himself into your bedroom, plopping down onto your bed.

"Oh, hey Donnie. You know, I would've appreciated it if you knocked."

Said turtle let out a sigh and lazily turned his body to face you.

"Sorry, N/N it's been a horrible day."

You couldn't really tell if he was being sarcastic or not, so you gestured for him to elaborate. Donnie let out another long and dramatic sigh before continuing.

"I dunno it's just, Leo and Mikey have been messing with me all day, Dad wouldn't let me go to the dump to look for any extra parts, and worst of all I'm lacking motivation. I haven't built anything in days Y/N. DAYS!" He screamed the last part. You giggled at his tone of voice as he glared at you.

"This is no laughing matter, Y/N! How would you feel if you didn't have any inspiration for your poems!"

You continued to giggle for a bit before stopping.

"Ok, Ok I'm sorry Donnie. Tell you what, I'll help you try to come up with something to make,"

He gasped and sat up at that. You and him? Just the two of you working on an invention?? It sounded like heaven. That is, if he could keep himself from falling apart every time you said something. See, Donnie was having what he would call: Y/N brain rot. But that was just another way of saying that he was in denial about having a crush on you. He wasn't really sure if the feeling was mutual so he decided to observe for now. Donnie didn't really like hopping into things without knowing the outcome first. In most cases at least. He grinned at your goofy looking face and smile before asking,

"So we gonna do it over here or at the layer? Cuz, if you wanna do it at the layer we can do it at layer."

You simply nodded before closing your book of poems and stuffing it into the backpack that was leaning against your chair previously. Slipping the straps of said backpack onto your shoulders you nodded at him.

"Let's get going."

As you and Donnie walked along the streets of New York to the sewers, Donnie couldn't help but feel giddy. You, of all people, were going to help him do something he was truly passionate about. He bit his lip to hid his squeals of excitement. Apparently, you could hear him, despite his attempts at masking the sound.

"D Money? You all good? You're gettin' all giddy over there."

His head snapped over to you and he nodded and waved his arms frantically,

"Don't worry 'bout me, Y/N! Just a little excited, I mean I haven't invented anything in the past few days so this is really nice!"

He lied right through his teeth. He didn't know if you could tell but judging by the look on your face, you couldn't. He let out a relieved sigh before facing the ground again. There was a puddle. That's what he was gonna be soon. A puddle on the ground, a stuttering flustered puddle on the ground if you were gonna keep on getting to him like this.

As you two entered the layer you were immediately tackled by Mikey.

"Y/N, Y/N OMIGOSH! It's been so long!"

"Mikey, I saw you guy's two day's ago-"

"Well, that's still a long time!"

He interjected. You smiled and shook your head.

"Well, this purple nerd over here is having a bit of trouble finding inspiration. So I'm gonna help him."

Mikey looked at Donnie, then at you again. He repeated this a few times before nodding vigorously and walking off. Huh, wonder what that was all about. You felt Donnie nudging you in the direction of his lab room thingie. Once you both got situated and prepped, you sat down and cracked your knuckles. Donnie snorted at this and quirked a brow at you.

"You sure you up for this? Since when did you know how to build stuff anyway?"

"Psh, since like forever? I guess I don't put it to much use. I had to go to engineering camp when I was little, so..."

He made an 'o' shape with his mouth.

"I guess I'll just watch you then."

As time flew by Donnie seemed to get more and more interested in your work. He would peek over your shoulder, even leaning on it sometimes. He would compliment you every five seconds, sometimes giving you head pats as he walked by. He would suggest something every now and then as well. As of right now, the project was almost finished and he was getting giddy all over again.

"This is so great, it's better than I could've ever asked for like omigosh when pops see's this he's gonna flip thank you so much Y/N you are so amazing like I actually love you so much and-"

He stopped talking and you stopped working, your head snapping over to him.

"Ah- Y/N I didn't mean to say that oh lord-"

He was stopped when you suddenly tackled him in a hug, mumbling 'Thank you's and 'Me too's into his shirt. He let out a sigh of relief and hugged you back, not really knowing what else to do. You two stayed like that for a long time. Sitting there and hoping it would last forever.

A/N: This is actually crap lmao its so cliche and ggrosssssss uhgggggg
