Hadiya and the rest of the school along with family members sat outside as the principal called students to the stage to receive their diplomas. She watched in anticipation, counting how many students had passed so she could know when she would be next. Patience leaned over to look at her being that they were a few seats away from each other and put up a thumbs up making Hadiya laugh and do it back."Tysheem porter!" The principal called out making Hadiya shoot up out of her seat and yell as loud as possible as her boyfriend walked across the stage. She wore the proudest smile on her face, seeing him shake Mrs. Louisa's hand and take a picture with his diploma before walking off to his seat. Her hands began to shake knowing she was next to be called up.
This was the moment she waited for. Dreamed of. And prayed for.
"Hadiya Jones!" The crowd of students clapped as Hadiya walked across the stage, happy as ever. Not only did she make it out, she made it out while grieving her sisters death and having seizures. Strong wasn't the word to describe Hadiya.
"Wooowoowoowoo" Tysheem yelled, swinging his arm forward, watching his girlfriend receive her diploma. Her parents sat in the crowd, going crazy. They were one of the most loudest parents out there and they were the least bit of embarrassed. Hadiya walked over to Tysheem and kissed him on the lips before going to where she had to be. He smiled and looked at his mother who had her hands over mouth with tears pouring out of her eyes. She was already emotional since she was pregnant and seeing her son succeed had her feeling different emotions at once.
••
"You know we're very proud of you this has been a wild couple of months but, your turn around has made all of that disappear" Stevenson said, pulling into their driveway. Hadiya gasped seeing the Chevy impala with a big red ribbon wrapped around it. She knew it was hers, she just knew it. "You deserve it baby" she got out of the car and raced towards the impala."Oh my gosh yess!" She squealed, jumping up and down. Chelly laughed and passed her daughter the keys to her new car. "Thank you, thank youu so much" she jumped into her parents arms.
"You don't have to thank us Hadiya it was well deserved" Chelly rubbed up and down her daughters back to sooth her because she was now crying. At that very moment Hadiya wished her sister was there but, she knew no matter what she'd always be with them in spirit. She always felt her presence.
"I'm sorry for crying I-I'm just so overwhelmed I don't know what to do" she wiped her tears and unlocked the door, sliding into the drivers seat. She cheesed while cranking up the car. "It's the new car smell for me" she sticked out her tongue and bounced in her seat. Her parents looked at each other and shook their head.
"This new generation is out of control"
••
"We made it" Tysheem wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him, smiling. He'd been smiling since the day started and he couldn't stop. She pulled him in for a kiss."We made it" she repeated. "Just think about when we first started talking up until now" she turned around so her back was against his front. They intertwined their fingers and she let her body sink into his, feeling instant comfort.
"We been doing good" she hummed and looked at the ring that rested on her ring finger. In their eyes they were married without the papers. It was crazy but they loved the thought of sharing a future together and they hoped nothing would ever have enough power to bring them apart. "I want to let you know no matter how many hours away we are from each other I won't do you wrong in no way I love the shit out of you and I'll never do anything to jeopardize us" he spoke, resting his chin on her head.
"I know and I won't do anything either.. I'm down for you and only you, your the only person who has gotten to know me outside of patience and you've loved me unconditionally I wouldn't trade that for anything else" she shrugged her shoulders. "What more could I ask for when I have all I need right in front of me" he smirked.
"I'm all you need, huh" he brought his head down and kissed the side of her face.
"Your, all I need" she looked at him and closed her eyes as he leaned in to kiss her. They enjoyed each other's time with conversations here and there. Their stories were amazing and their future together will only bring them closer. Everything wasn't perfect and mistakes were made but, after all, they still came out together.
Like I said in the beginning they were all each other needed.
The End.
