Hadiya watched in fear as her mother paced back and forth in the kitchen on the phone with her father who was currently at work, stressed. Not only had he just gotten out of jail a few days ago his career was at sake. Stevenson is a Chiropractor and when fellow co-workers heard about his outburst it didn't take long for the news to get back to the boss who didn't like all that attention at his workplace. After Stevenson explained the circumstances he understood and let him keep his job, which brought in a lot of money to the family.
Chelly got the call about the altercation while at work she left her job and raced to the school. Hadiya cringed at the memory almost hurling at how uncomfortable the whole situation made her feel she felt disgusted as a person for putting her hands on someone.
Flashback.
Hadiya sat in the principals office who happened to be the parent of Princess, which is why she was able to do and say whatever without getting in trouble. Sitting in the chair Hadiya nibbled on her nail and shifted in her seat uncomfortably at how hard the lady was staring at her.
The door being busted opened startling the two as Chelly entered the office with a smug look on her face. She sat down in the chair next to her shaken up daughter and put one leg over the other staring at her old archenemy, Louisa. Mr. Smith who stood off to the side not too far behind Hadiya felt the tension that all of a sudden filled the room. He made sure to keep an eye on Hadiya for any signs of an attack.
"Hello, old friend" Louisa said with an evil grin resting on her face she enjoyed being in the same presence as the woman whose life she ruined back in high school. She missed sneaking off and having fun with her husband and returning him back to her whenever she was tired of him. Chelly took off her shades and leaned forward giving the woman full blown eye-contact.
"You must've forgotten how I roll, Louisa don't think because we both moved out of the hood and changed our lives around I won't jump across this desk and gladly sit you on your ass" Hadiya was stunned to hear her mother speak in that form. Chelly never spoke like that around her daughter she never wanted to expose that side of her but Louisa had it coming. "Now are you going to tell me what's going to happen with my daughter or are you going to make this harder on you because lord knows I have connections I'll have you out of this-" Chelly looked around with a disgusted look on her face before smiling. "Whatever this is- by tomorrow sweetie we both know how nasty I can get don't test me"
"Are you threatening me?" Louisa questioned.Chelly shrugged her shoulders before looking at her daughter who had her head hanging low, embarrassed. She didn't know her mother would talk to Mrs. Louisa that way and it bothered her because her daughter would probably bother her even more. Chelly picked her daughters head up and wiped the lone tear that slipped from her eye.
Chelly was taking action and she was going to protect her daughter at any cost it was her job she wasn't going to let down Hadiya how she did Serenity.
"It's whatever you want it to be honey, but let my daughter come to me about kids bothering her one more time" she put up her index finger. "I will contact the school board so fast and let them know that you let these kids get picked on without doing anything about it children are killing themselves everyday because of other kids who have no home training and low self-esteem and it's people like you that do nothing about it, you should be ashamed."
"I've heard enough your daughter will be suspended for ten days and if she gets into another altercation she will be expelled" Louisa said feeling like her parenting skills and character was being attacked. Chelly snorted before putting her shades back on and tapping her daughters leg.
"Let's go baby, I promise you no one will mess with you again" she sized Louisa up and made her exit with her daughter right beside who tried hiding the smile that had grazed her face. Her mother had just stood up for her and it made her feel good. Mr. Smith swiped his nose and chuckled under his breath he was waiting on the day for someone to step up to Louisa he would've been did it if he was a woman.
Hours later Hadiya laid in bed listening to her parents go back and forth they rarely argued but when they did it was like cats and dogs. Both were at each others head trying to kill each other with their words.
"Don't tell me how to act Stevenson" Chelly said with a loud bang following. "What you want to protect your little girlfriend, is that it?" Stevenson got up and walked over to the dresser finding something to wear he wasn't about to stay there and argue with his wife on a good night about something that happened years ago.
"Chelly don't do this while our daughter is in the other room" he growled before throwing a shirt over his head.
"No, lets do it Stevenson let's talk about it, let's talk about how you cheated on me and kept it going until she didn't want to do it anymore you made a fool of me! What was I, huh? Was I being tolerated or was I just something to settle with because your main hoe wasn't acting right?" She asked sitting on the bed with her legs crossed. Hadiya gasped in shock her dad cheated on her mother and she was just now finding out about it that explained the tension between Mrs. Louisa. Hadiya walked passed their room and heard her mother's cries, which caused her to dislike her father at the moment.
I know you said you didn't want to communicate with me but could you meet up with me I'll come to your house or you can come to mines. I just want to explain myself I can't deal with us not talking.
Hadiya read over Tysheem's message and huffed as she leaned against the counter, biting on her bottom lip. She misses him and she wanted to see him as well but would that make her dumb? Will her giving in and putting down her guard make her dumb again? She didn't want to be let down by someone she cared about again, she didn't want to be made a fool of.
Walking down the street her heart rate quickened up seeing him standing there with a sweater, Jim shorts, Nike socks and slides. She stopped a few feet away from him and stuffed her hands in the back of her shorts, waiting for him to say something.
"Hi" she whispered, breaking the uncomfortable silence that waved through the air.
"Can you come closer" he asked not liking the space that she put between the two. She looked at him and nodded her head, walking up to him closing a gap in between them. He raked his arm around her waist and kept eye-contact.
"I care for you and I feel like I made that clear on multiple occasions" Hadiya nodded her head in agreement. "I'm sorry for how I reacted with the whole Dennis situation it was disrespectful and uncalled for especially when you didn't do anything wrong and I want to apologize again for that mistake" he made his grasp tighter.
"I accept your apology I've been accepted your apology I'm just scared Tysheem I have a low pain tolerance and that goes for mentally and physically, you know?" She wiped her forehead, nervously she was about to open up and that's something she didn't like to do.
"Truth is, I like you and I d-don't know when it happened but I can't stand not talking to you or being in your presence you bring a light into my darkness, you make my days better, and you do it all by just being you" she looked at him with tears in her eyes. She didn't know why she was crying but Hadiya was overwhelmed with emotions. Tysheem wiped the tears that began to slip from her eyes and kissed her forehead.
"Diya, fason ou mòde lèv ou lè nève ou" he rubbed his thumb over her bottom lip. "ki jan souri ou klere moute jou mwen chak fwa mwen wè li, fason kè mwen bat lè ou nan sal la" he grabbed her hand and put it against his irregular heartbeat. Hadiya's eyes widened as she looked at his chest then back at him.
"Shit, Mwen renmen ou, Hadiya" he said grabbing her face and bringing their lips together she gripped the back of his sweater and deepened the kiss, moaning into his mouth. Their kiss was suddenly interrupted by his ringing phone, breaking away from the kiss he looked at her for a few seconds before taking his phone from his sweater pocket.
"Yo" he said into the phone, loosening his grip on her back. "Yeah, yeah I'll be there give me like twenty minutes" he hung up the phone and smiled at how hard Hadiya was cheesing.
"I got somewhere to be I wanna take you somewhere tomorrow, can I do that?" She nodded her head.
"You gotta say something, baby" her mouth went agape before responding to him.
"y-yes"
