Today is the second free day that we have to ourselves before we make our way back to Seoul for our last week of junior year. Since we have the day off again, we all decide to go for a walk around the city. I'm not very familiar with Daegu, so I'm kind of happy that we decided to just explore. We started our morning with breakfast at a cute cafe. I decided to have some pancakes for breakfast. Since I don't have to worry about fencing for a while, a little sugar won't hurt right? After we finish breakfast we walk along some streets and do some street shopping.
There's food vendors at almost every single corner. I would definitely eat everything that I saw if my stomach could handle it. We buy little souvenirs and trinkets that will help us remember our Nationals trip this year. However, we all decided to pitch in and buy something for Mark since he'll be graduating this year. It's really sad to see him go, but he promised that he'd come back to watch our tournaments if he has free time. That means that Renjun will be taking over as team captain next year.
As we continue to walk down the street, something catches Aera's eye making everyone stop.
"You guys look! It's a puppy cafe! Do you guys want to go in and have a look?" I don't think I've ever gone into a puppy cafe before, so I immediately say yes and stand next to Aera looking at the rest of my teammates with puppy eyes (no pun intended). Everyone eventually agrees and makes their way into the cafe. We order some drinks and then head over to the puppies. I ask Renjun to buy me a peach smoothie with boba. After our order is called, we head over to the puppies hand in hand. Now this is probably the most surreal thing that I've ever done in my life. There are puppies EVERYWHERE! They're all different breeds and they're all so cute. Some are waiting for someone to play with them, others are taking a nap, and others are being held by the other people in the store. I play with all of them, but a particular one keeps coming back to me for company.
It was a corgi puppy, and it had the most precious face that I had ever seen in my life! Renjun kept looking at us with admiration and taking pictures of me cuddling with the puppy. After a while Renjun excuses himself to go use the restroom, so there I am, cuddling and playing with the cutest corgi dog that I have ever seen in my life. If only I could take this little guy home.
After a little while Renjun comes back with, a collar? Why though?
"Renjun, what is all this?" I ask. He looks at me and brings the rest of the team over.
"Well you see, you've done such a good job this year and you helped every single one of us become better fencers and better people. Now as you know, you're the love of my life and you've helped me so much throughout this year. We started out as transfer students and we ended up as friends. Now we decided to return the favor and get you a gift. We talked to the owners earlier, and you're allowed to pick any puppy you want. Everything from the food to the bed has already been paid for by the team."
