This is Me

Clarity sat on a stool on stage singing softly to herself. Doing her best not to connect with the lyrics because they hurt, but she really couldn't help it. "I am not a stranger to the dark." The very first lyric wasn't hard to sing even though she had a lump in her throat. Clarity may seem all light and sparky but a spark can't truly be seen unless it's in darkness. Clarity has had her fair share of traumas.

""Hide away" they say." Clarity continued a tear rolling down her cheek as thoughts swirled in her mind. People telling her to hide her powers, hide her sense of style, hide her genius because she's a woman, hide and compartmentalize herself into something normal. 

"Cause we don't want your broken parts" Who would ever want her? She couldn't help but wonder. Her own fiancé, the boyfriend she had for five years, he didn't want her anymore once she became a meta.

"I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars." Clarity's done just that, all because of her ex. Her boyfriend, briefly fiancé, shaming her for her scar, her glowing eyes and body, everything. She couldn't do right in his eyes.

"Runaway" they say"" That's what Barry does? Why can't she? Why won't she?

"No one will love you as you are" Tyler made that perfectly clear.

"But I won't let them break me down to dust" He won't take her down with him. She won't break down because of him. Not anymore. She knows who she is. She wiped that tear away and stood up, glowing for all to see. Shining as lightning crackled across her.

"I know that there's a place for us." the waverider. The team. The one place for broken misfits like Clarity to go and be home. She knows it's where she belongs

"For we are glorious." She knows that there's nothing better than what she has now. She knows what a star she can become if she just believes in herself.

"When the sharpest words wanna cut me down." When the echoes of her past come racing into her mind. Every mean comment, every degrading thing she thinks about that was ever said to her, along with new biting words that make her want to do nothing more than curl up into a ball and cry her heart out. The things that make her feel worthless, like she's nothing.

"I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown em out." She's going to be happy and light. She's going to spread that light and drown out there spiteful words.

"I am brave, I am bruised."  It takes courage to do what she does. It isn't as easy as it looks. It leaves her hurting but she tries to stay strong.

"I am who I'm meant to be," She acknowledges that as strange as she is this is her destiny. This was what she was always meant to do. Be The Glitch, be the light of hope for the team.

"This is me." She's Clarity Springs, The Glitch, powerful, intelligent, crazy, beautiful, amazing. A meta but still human. Yes, still human.

"Look out cause here I come." evil doers and haters(Kendra this means you) beware. Clarity isn't holding anything back.

"I'm marching onto the beat I drum." Since when has Clarity followed the beat of anyone else's heart save her own? She cares about so much and feels so deeply. It may not be in tune with everyone else's but it's her best and she owns it with pride. Allowing herself to care for even the lowest people around.

"I'm not scared to be seen." she isn't scared for people to see who she is anymore. She wears blue and wants people to see her sometimes strange yet adorable outfits. She is a metahuman and wants the whole world to know she's a freak. Let them hate her. She's ready for it now.

"I make no apologies." she may apologize for a lot of things but she will never apologize for the person that she is today. "This is me."

"Another round of bullets hits my skin." People tend to shoot things at her whether they be actual physical  attacks or mental ones. She will not let them hurt her again.

"Well fire away cause today I won't let the shame sink in." she won't doubt herself because she knows the team is there for her. That they love her for who she is.

"We are bursting through the barricades." the walls that they put up around her aren't enough to keep her contained. She's strong enough now to break free.

"And reaching for the sun." she's reaching towards the light. Trying to claw her way out of the darkness that she's been trapped in for so long.

"We are warriors." She's a hero to Central City. On her way to becoming a legend. People will know of her fight.

"Yeah that's what we've become." the world will forever remember the legends team as just that. Legends. Clarity repeated some lines singing her heart out.

"And I know that I deserve your love." she deserved her boyfriend to love her back and accept her, but that's not what she got. She knows that true love is what she has with the team. We accept the love we think we deserve.

"There's nothing I'm not worthy of." nothing and no one is too god for Clarity. If anything she's too good for most people.Clarity finished her song and in the audience the rest of the team was cheering and clapping proudly.

Clarity curtsied and the curtain closed.
