"Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE" said the sign.
How reassuring.
Well, I had to move to keep going. I wasn't staying in that stupid forest forever. But what if there was a trap ? I had to figure it out. I grabbed some snow, rolled it in my hands, and threw it across the path. Immediately, a figure came out from behind a tree, and planted its two steel sabers right where the snowball had landed. It was a canine monster wearing grey and black fur. It had sharp teeth, but its eyes were almost blank. He was nearly blind. "... A snowball.", he said, "But who..."
He got up, and began to walk in my direction, getting closer and closer to me. I almost moved, but remembered the warning. He stopped at a foot or so to me. "Who's there ?! If it's another one of you damn kids messing with me, I swear you'll pay this time !"
God, go away please !
He kept sniffing around me, and swinging his swords around to try to see if there was something in front of him. They were now passing at only two or three inches from me. I had to do something or it was Game Over. I slowly tried to get around him when his eyes met mine, and we both froze. "..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...Hey ! Who are you ?!"
I instantly forgot about being stealthy, and sprinted right past him.
"Wait !"
I heard a sound behind me. I instinctively looked behind my shoulder. The monster had disappeared. Suddenly, I felt a huge pain while something was piercing back. I fell on the ground, a huge weight pressing me on the floor. It was him. He had jumped to get me, and stabbed me with one of his swords.
"Gotcha... human."
"No..."
"Now, you'll behave and wait for the rest of the guard to come and take you to the King."
"..."
"You should be honored, your soul will be of great use for us."
"Ugh..."
"Got something to say maybe ? I'm all ears.", he said, lowering his head closer to mine.
"Gh-NOOO!!!"
I reached what I was searching for in my pocket. I got the knife out, and passed it right through his neck. He screamed in agony, and I profited of the opportunity to push my body off the ground, destabilizing him, and making him fall to the side. I jumped on my feet, and escaped, running as fast as I could despite the pain.
Doggo got up with difficulty, his hand on his neck. "Fucking cunt... I'll kill y-"
He hadn't finished that a tree fell on him, knocking him out. The trunk had been roughly cut, you could still see some bone shards in it.
