"There you are !"

As I pushed the heavy door, an intense wave of cold hit me. It took me a few moments to understand that it was partially caused by Hapstablook, that had jumped in my direction, and passed right through me. Partially, because I was still very cold. We were in some kind of snowy forest. Not the kind of thing you'd expect underground.

"Where have you been ?" He asked.

"What do you mean ?"

"Well, you were taking your time getting to the other side of the door, and I was afraid something bad had happened to you. But when I traveled all the way, crossed it, and arrived here, you were nowhere to be found. And now, you appear BEHIND me !"

I was about to answer, but he cut me off.

"Meh, that's not important. Listen... I have something to tell you."

"What is it ?"

He took a sorry face.

"I think you'll have to go on your own from now on."

I paused.

"WHAT ?!"

"It's complicated. I've done... some things in the past. And now, with all these repeated disparitions from me, my cousin could suspect something... and go as far as to warn monsters from outside the Ruins, which could be very dangerous for you. I'm sorry but... I can't do otherwise. I... I understand if you can't forgive me."

"It's fine."

"What ?"

I looked at him right in the eyes and smiled.

"You've already done so much for me, while constantly putting yourself in danger. I could never thank you enough for that."

He froze, and a timid smile flashed on his face, while tears started pearling in his eyes.

"Oh crap !" I screamed. "I didn't mean to make you-"

"Cry ? No, I just got something in my eye... Just... don't forget. Your safety matters more than the rest. You've got to escape. No matter the means."

"What ? But how-"

"I've gotta go now. Thank you... for everything."

Before I could say anything more, he went through the door. I stood there for a moment, then hardened my grasp on my bag. Guess it's only the two of us, now.

As I began making my way through the forest, I quickly looked at the bush next to the door.

None of us had been able to see the camera in it.
