"Slowly... Slowl-"
The sword suddenly came out of my back.
"GAH !"
I had run for a while before finally stopping, and realizing the dog-wolf monster's sword was still planted in my shoulder blade. I had to carefully pull it out to avoid screaming. Thankfully, it seems like I wasn't being chased anymore. I looked at the bloody weapon. At least, I could use it to defend myself, now that I had left the knife in...
I had a shiver remembering how I had stabbed my opponent in the neck. I had panicked, I didn't mean to kill him. Every minute spent down there was making everything worse. I was wondering if I even could make it to the exit without getting more wounded. I tried to move my arm, but even the simplest movement made some blood squirt out of the wound, that landed in the snow. Not much, but still a considerable amount.
The moment it touched the ground, I felt... something move under my feet. Under the snow. What now ? It was getting closer. I jumped away from my position just as something bursted out of where I was standing.
Mudman is here for you.
The thing was shaped like a snowman, but its snow was brownish, and dirty. However, it was nothing close to what a normal snowman would look like. A composition of four or five big snowballs, with many wooden arms on each side, and two heads with empty black rocky eyes, and large mouths filled with spiky rocks. It barely looked alive, not even looking at me.
Its arms extended in my direction, trying to grab me. Thankfully, since they were simple branches, I pushed them away easily. However, it then propelled itself, and violently bumped into me, sending me away. I tried fighting back by swinging my sword around, but its it touched it, the snow would simply regenerate. It got closer, and held me against itself with his arms, forcing my face into the snow, with no way to breathe. It then opened wide one of its mouth, and began bringing it closer and closer to me.
I instantly reacted by using the sword to break his arms, pushing it away, and slamming my fist right into his head. To my surprise, it exploded, and got mixed with the ground's snow. So I kept punching it until there was nothing left but a small pile of mud, that was... crying ? Sobbing came from it. I carefully approached, and asked : "What's wrong ?"
To my surprise, the pile answered me. "You destroyed me, now I have to make myself a new body again !"
"B-But I had to ! You would have eaten me otherwise !"
"I thought you were one of those kids, that would kick me and dirty my beautiful snow !"
"...Is that why you became like this ? To protect yourself ?"
"I'm just trying to live a happy and peaceful snowman life, but I never find a safe spot !"
I thought for a moment.
"Well, I'm trying to get out of the... Underground. Maybe I could find you a safe spot in the surface ? It sure is less dangerous up there."
"Really ?!"
"Well sure, I'd enjoy some company. I had someone to talk with before, but he left. That'd be a win-win situation."
"So you'd take me with you ? Oh, thank you thank you !"
"Yeah, but... how do I do that ?"
"Oh, no problem ! Look !"
The mud began to solidify, and took the shape a little rock.
"This my dormant state. I can't move like this, but I'm much less troublesome !"
"...Okay. Well, welcome to my adventure. My name is Frisk. What's yours ?"
"..."
"...Uh, hello ?"
"ZZzzz..."
It was sleeping.
"Oh. Okay."
I guess it never got to rest. If that's how the nicest monsters are, how bad can the worse ones be ?
