Then I realized who he was. Memories from the last day of fifth grade come flooding back. We liked each other so much and he knew everything about my 7 year old self there is to know. He had given me a brown bracelet with a wooden turtle on the top of it. It was him, Devon "Devon?" I say not knowing if I was 100% correct.

"It is I" he says while leaning in to give me a hug. I of course hugged him back because it would be weird if I didn't.

"Wow you look a lot different" I say while looking at his abs and arms. Was he a bodybuilder? I ask myself. Or did he just workout a lot this summer? I don't know but I know I liked it.

"As do you" He says doing that smirk again, "I mean we both have definitely come a long way from our fifth grade bodies." He lets out a chuckle.

"Heh yeah." I say taking a quick look at my watch to see that 6 minutes have already passed and class has started already.

"Were you lost?" He asks while trying to see my face looking down at my shoes. I tend to look at them when nervous or thinking.

"Yeah, first day in this big building and I can't find my class, which is crew" I let out a chuckle because crew is where you get to know the people you'll be spending your morning with for 4 years.

"What's your crew name?" He asks, I can see his face from the reflection from my watch trying to look at mine so I lift my head and look him in the eye.

"All stars" I say. I could feel us re-connecting all over again. His eyes light up as he tells me that that's his crew as well. He walks me there, grabs my arm and stops before walking into the room.

"Are you okay?" I ask, looking concerned.

"Yeah, I just wanted to tell you that I'm happy I saw you this morning." I can see a genuine smile form on his face. I smile back and walk into the room apologizing for being late.

Lunch time comes and I scurry through the hallway looking for Lilly. I spotted her "LILLY!" I shout but still try not to shout.

"Lilly you'll never guess who I saw" I say with the biggest smile on my face.

"Let me guess...Devon?" She says with a small laugh. She knows that I missed him a lot in sixth grade. It was my first time not being near him since 3rd grade.

"Okay, no fair" I say rolling my eyes while going to my car with her so we can go get lunch. I see him out of the corner of my eyes staring at me. I turn to smile at him and he smiles back.

Okay love birds that's enough I'm hungry she says kind of loud but not loud enough for him to hear.

"Ugh, okay where to." Though I already knew she was going to say Mcdonald's I asked anyway.

"McDonalds please and thank you. My treat this time" She says looking at me.

I told her all about our encounter in the hallway and how he remembered me but it took me forever to recognize him. At this point I feel dumb and embarrassed that I didn't know it was him.

"Oh calm down" Lilly says "He looks completely different. He grew like 8 more inches and got muscles. I wouldn't even know that it was Devon."

I let out a sight before driving us back to school and seeing Devon by the doors again. Lilly tells me she has to go see this kid she met in crew but I know she just wanted me to be alone with him.

"Hey" he says with his soft but deep voice.

"Hey" I say back while clicking the lock button on my car keys. "How was your lunch, I ask?"
