Chapter 9

Lunchtime finally comes and Lilly pulls me to the janitor's closet.

"What's going on with you?" She asks, looking at me while I'm looking at my shoes. "Hello Sienna, what the fuck is wrong?"

I look up and smile a little bit. "Nothing."

"Look, I have to tell you something."

This is it. She's telling me she's dating him. I can hear my heartbeat at this point. It was like the room was spinning. Waiting for her to continue her sentence. There are so many things going on in my head. The advice Devon was telling me and Malcolm's face. His light brown eyes looking at mine. It feels like forever before she speaks.

"Yeah?" I feel my heart pounding even more.

"I'm switching schools." She looks me right in the eye.

"You're what?" I couldn't hear over my thoughts. She told me she is moving schools and not that she is dating my ex. I just might take Devon's advice.

"I'm going to the school on the West side. I don't want to leave but my mom is making me."

"Oh bullshit. Your mom listened when you wanted to come to my school in 6th grade. Why would she make you switch?" I storm out of the closet.

"Please don't be mad." She says pleading.

"Too late. Bestie." I say sarcastically and leave the closet seeing  Laura out of the corner of my eye and pull her into one of the empty classrooms to tell her everything that's happened since the party.

"No fucking way!!" She scoffs and looks at me like I'm lying. "That can't be true."

"I told you she was drunk on the bed and then started calling him babe. She didn't even know I was there. But he grabbed her hand and started comforting her. I couldn't believe my eyes so I left."

"Wow. I can't believe she's dating him. And switching to his school!"

"I'm shocked myself."

"Are you going to talk to her?"

"Dev said I should wait for her to tell me and act like everything is okay but now she's going to his school!"

"I think we should play it out. Make her think we don't know and if she doesn't tell us on Friday we confront her."

"I agree." I sigh and go to class. Thinking about all of the things that have happened over the past couple of days. The end of the day arrives and I see Devon and Lilly talking to each other near my car.

"Hey babe" Devon says, kissing me on the cheek.

"Hey nenna" Lilly says rubbing her neck knowing I'm mad at her but she only thinks it's because she's switching schools.

"Hi. Devon don't we have plans later today" I say trying to get out of Lilly's presence as fast as possible.

"We do?" I look at him and throw my things in the car. "Oh right we do!" He does the same.

"Bye." I look at Lilly then get in the car. "Thanks for going along."

"Yeah, of course." Devon says plugging the audio jack into his phone and playing music.

We drive home and do some extra credit assignments together.

"You okay?" Devon asks, putting his pen down.

"Fine" I give a small smile and continue working.

"Sienna?"

"She's going to his school. She didn't tell me and now she's switching to his school." I get up and head downstairs to get chips.
