Vilkas woke the next morning to the sound of Inga shuffling about and swearing quietly under her breath.

"What are you doing?" He asked, trying not to smirk at the comical sight that met his eyes as he sat up...

She'd scooted herself out of her bedroll and seemed to be trying to crab-walk on her hands and one leg.

"Going over there," she replied irritably, nodding her head a ways down the valley.

"Let me carry you," Vilkas suggested patiently as he got up from his bedroll.

"I'm not having you carry me to go take a piss!" She snapped in frustration, "besides that, I'm still not wearing pants!"

"Aye, but are you actually going to manage it like that?" Vilkas asked, failing to hide his smirk now.

Inga glared at her bad leg then out down the valley where she was trying to go. She sighed in irritation and looked around her, scowling at everything.

"Give me one of those dragon finger bones," she grumbled, pointing at a long bone that had been the tip of one of the dragon's wing digits.

Vilkas couldn't help but chuckle as he grabbed the bone she'd pointed to and then helped her to stand up. The bone from the dragon's wing tip was just the right length for her to put the wider end under her arm and use it like a crutch.

Vilkas tried not to laugh more as she hobbled off down the valley, but seeing the normally fearsome woman hopping so awkwardly and refusing help was horribly amusing.

"Shut up," she snapped over her shoulder at his poorly suppressed chuckles.

"Apologies," he replied, "holler if you need me."

With that, he walked several paces in the opposite direction to relieve himself behind a boulder. When he returned he found her hobbling, not back to their campsite, but even further down the valley toward the small stream.

"Now what are you doing?" He called after her, still amused as he followed her down to the stream.

"Going for a wash," she grumbled irritably as he caught up to her.

"Do you need help?" He asked understandingly.

"No," she replied quickly, "don't look."

"Aye," he agreed with a sigh. He stopped a few paces away from her and fixed his eyes on a cloud in the sky overhead so he could still see her in his peripheral vision but not look directly at her.

"What are you doing? I said don't look!" She snapped a moment later.

"I'm not looking at you," Vilkas smirked, keeping his eyes fixed on the sky.

"Well... turn around or someth— fuck!"

Vilkas's eyes snapped reflexively back to her as he heard her stumble... which might have been a mistake— or a gift from the divines, Vilkas couldn't decide... because as he looked to see if she was ok, he was promptly met with an arousing sight that would certainly haunt his dreams as well as his waking thoughts for some time to come...

She'd lost her balance on the uneven terrain, and toppled forward to catch herself on her hands... putting her in a rather undignified position, with both hands and one foot on the ground, and her bottom up in the air and pointed directly at him. The way her small cloths stretched across her left nothing to the imagination...

...and by Ysmir, Vilkas really liked what he saw...

He quickly tore his eyes away, trying to recover from his sudden arousal... or at least trying to will the visible evidence of said arousal back down...

She was injured, he needed to take care of her, he reminded himself...

"Are you alright?" He asked, trying not to let his voice sound strained.

"Fine," she grumbled, seeming fortunately unaware of his most recent observation and subsequent... hard predicament...

But then he heard another string of curses from Inga followed by the sound of her slipping and falling into the stream with a large splash.

"Damn you!" She yelled angrily smacking something with the dragon bone, and then Vilkas heard the telltale shriek of a dying mudcrab...

Vilkas turned back to her then to find her sitting in the stream with water up to her breasts, and completely soaked.

"It's not funny," she snapped, glaring up at his amused expression.

"I don't know, it looks pretty funny from where I'm standing," Vilkas chuckled.

"Then stand somewhere else," she growled, and then she threw the dead mudcrab at him.

Vilkas dodged the large crustacean with ease, and couldn't help but laugh.

Inga folded her arms with a huff and scowled down at the water.

"Do you need help?" Vilkas asked seriously. He managed to stop laughing, but couldn't keep the amused grin from his face.

Inga didn't say anything and just looked around her... she'd landed in a relatively deep part of the small stream and there didn't appear to be many handholds to help her climb back out...

Then she sighed and looked up at Vilkas. Her scowl slowly softened and, she wordlessly held out her hand to him.

Still grinning, Vilkas reached down to take her hand. But instead of holding on and letting Vilkas haul her out of the water, Inga suddenly grabbed his arm with her other hand, and using her good leg for more leverage, she yanked him off balance.

Vilkas tumbled gracelessly head-over-heels, and landed on his back in the water and was quickly submerged in the freezing mountain stream.

"Damn it, woman," he spluttered when he came splashing back to the surface, "that's cold!"

Inga laughed so hard she slipped over backwards and went in up to her neck with an amusing yelp, but she quickly steadied herself and just kept laughing.

Vilkas righted himself in the freezing water and sat up. He wanted to glare at her for her little stunt, but hearing her laugh threatened to bring a smile to his face instead.

He let out a frustrated huff and splashed an handful of water toward her... which just made her laugh harder as she tried not to slip off the rock she was sitting on. Vilkas shook his head and gave up trying to look angry. He'd never heard her laugh so much. At least the cold water alleviated his concerns about his arousal being visible...

He watched in amusement as she slowly calmed herself back down, but then he raised his eyebrow in curious confusion as what appeared to be soap bubbles began to rise in the water beside her.

Inga noticed the bubbles only a moment later and her laughter was bitten off with a much more characteristic curse as she pulled a small satchel out of the water.

"What 've you got in there?" Vilkas asked curiously.

"My soap and spare clothes," she replied with a disgruntled sigh as she set the satchel up on a rock out of the water.

Vilkas chuckled a little smugly, "well, I could have lent you my shirt, but it somehow seems to have gotten as wet as yours..."

She glared at him for a brief moment but then her face softened back to an amused smile and she let herself flop back in the water with a soft sigh.

"Worth it," she giggled quietly as she pulled the tie from her braid and let her hair flow loose in the water. Then she sat back up to get her soap from her satchel to wash her hair and face.

As he watched her, Vilkas suddenly wasn't sure even the freezing water was going to keep his blood from running to a particular noticeable place...

But then she looked over at him again and caught him staring... a light blush came to her cheeks at that and she tossed her bar of soap at him.

"Here," she smirked, "you needed a wash as badly as I did."

Vilkas chuckled and didn't argue... he wasn't going to be able to get out of the water for a little while anyway...
