My Sword, My Shield, My Heart (Argis) Epilogue

The next morning Chrystara got up and composed a rather long winded letter to her parents and another more direct one to her jilted so-called husband. Then as soon as they were sure Elyn and her escorts were well on their way and out of view, they hired the next carriage to Riften.

The priest of Mara had been downright aghast at the idea of Chrystara's father signing her away in marriage to another noble against her will and agreed to put whatever date they wanted on their marriage records.

By the time Chrystara received the angry response letter from her father, she and Argis were properly married and thoroughly enjoying life back home in Markarth.

There were several more letters exchanged in which her father threatened to come get her himself... but Chrystara wasn't worried about that.

She and Argis simply continued to thoroughly enjoy married life. It was nearly a year later by the time her father actually tried to follow through on that threat, and he and his housecarls arrived to fine Chrystara very obviously and happily several months pregnant.

One look at his grandchild's proud, protective, Nordic father had made Chrystara's father rethink his attitude very quickly, and to Chrystara's surprise, it had turned into a pleasant visit after all.

Chrystara's mother even came back with Elyn and one of her other servants to help with everything when their daughter was born. Then they came back to help again two years later when their son was born.

The Dibellan priestesses had once warned Argis that it was difficult for a woman to maintain her beauty and appeal after having children, but Argis found seeing Chrystara becoming the mother of his children only made him adore her more. And being a father— holding his daughter and his son... that was a whole new category of love he'd never known was missing in his life.

As the years rolled on, family life wasn't without challenges, but he and Chrystara never had to face their challenges alone again.

And now, Argis the Bulwark had to say he was entirely pleased with his lot in life.
