"wake up!" a little voice rings out into the silence of the early morning
you wake up and sit up to see your young daughter Valerie sitting at the end of your bed, you smile staring at her, she was a spitting image of you and emily
you motioned towards emily
"val, you gotta wake up mama" you whispered smiling
she clambered up the bed excitedly and climbed onto emily and began to shake her as hard as a 6 year old girl could
emily groaned as her eyes fluttered open, she smiled as she saw Valerie and you, sitting up and giving you a kiss
"good morning" she whispered to you groggily
"happy birthday my love" you said back kissing her again
"thank you" she giggles
she then engulfs Valerie in a hug and berates her with kisses
when she finishes you motion Valerie close to you
"lets make mama some breakfast for her birthday" you say
a smile grows on valaries face as she nods wildly
you both hop out of bed and look at emily smiling
"what's going on...?" she asks confused
"nothing..." you say grinning grabbing Valerie and running out of the room, down the hall, and into the kitchen
"what are we thinking" you ask your daughter as you both rummage through the various cabinets and drawers looking for what to make for your wife's birthday breakfast
valarie pulls out a box of pancake mix and motions to it
"breakfast of champions" you say laughing
you grab the box from her and begin to gather all the ingredients to make the pancakes
you and valarie finish mixing the pancake batter and start cooking them, placing scoops of batter onto the hot pan flipping them as they cook
suddenly you hear emily making her way downstairs
a sleepy and cuddly sergio in her arms, though he's gotten older he's still as playful and sweet as ever
"what's this" she says laughing looking at the stack of pancakes on the counter, she walks over and moves to grab one after setting down sergio
"no, no wait, one more thing" you say stopping her and rummaging through your junk drawer and grabbing out some candles left over from valaries last birthday and a lighter you stuck one into yhe stack of pancakes and lit the candle, you whispered to valarie
"you ready?"
"yeah" she said enthusiastically
and the two of you began to sing
"happy birthday to you"
"happy birthday to you"
"happy birthday dear mama"
"happy birthday to you"
you finished singing and took the candle out of the pancakes, blowing it out, setting a pancake on a plate for valarie and handing it to her as she ran over to the table to eat it
emily looked over at you and smiled
"thank you y/n"
"of course" you say laughing "it's your birthday" you add
"no not just for this but for everything, i mean for starters your an amazing mother your always there for val when she needs you, and when i'm feeling bad about myself for not being as active in her life as you..." you stop her
"emily- you do not get to get down on yourself for not being here, your unit chief now alright, you had no idea that's when you got that promotion that we would have a daughter in less then a year okay. your an amazing mother and val loves you regardless okay." you say smiling
"i love you" she says smiling and kissing you
"i love you too, now shut up and eat some pancakes" you say laughing and giving her some pancake off your fork
you grabbed her hand and guided her to the table to sit down next to your now syrup covered daughter
laughing and talking with the two of them
"mommy what are you smiling about" valarie asked mouth full of pancake
"i'm just very happy" you say coming back to aafter zoning out watching the two most important people in the world to you just exist in-front of you
"why?" emily asks
"because i have everything i've ever wanted sitting in-front of me, my dream job, my dream house, and my girls. my beautiful perfect girls" you say smiling
you stand up collecting the dishes and moving over to the sink beginning to wash them as a pair of hands wrap around your waist, you look back to see emily smiling at you
"i love you" she says
"i love you too" you respond kissing her gently
suddenly you feel a pair of small arms wrap around your and emily's legs
"group hug" valaries tiny voice shouts

oh my god i'm so sorry i haven't written in fucking forever, i'm currently on vacation to my old town, and i realized i had to crank out this last chapter before i lose my phone for a month while i'm at camp
