the next morning came and y/n awoke to her mother knocking on her bedroom door.

'hey doll, going down to the tennis club with your father. i'll see you this afternoon. bye darling.' she smiled and gave y/n a kiss on the head.

y/n got out of bed, stretching and yawning before walking into the kitchen to grab some breakfast. she got out a bowl, some cereal and milk and made herself breakfast. after finishing up, she walked back to her room and put on her abba record while she got ready.

she slipped on her new red levis and a white shirt along with her converse. a quick brush through her hair and a spray of perfume and then she was out the door and walking over to debbie's house. the two had planned a trip to the shops to hopefully get some new clothes.

y/n knocked on debbie's door to be greeted with debbie's mum, mrs vickers. debbie ran up behind her mum immediately and said goodbye to her parents before the two teens rushed off and made their way to the shops along some busy street in the centre of queens. the girls giggled and gossiped as they tried on many dresses, shoes and shirts throughout the small shops on the street.

peter was out with ned, looking for some new shoes as his had fallen apart and were 2 sizes too small. as well as a new backpack (he had lost another whilst out on patrol as spiderman). plus, he had finally saved up enough money for a new pair. may insisted on paying but peter didn't want to bother her and saved up money from doing chores and helping his neighbours with their cleaning. as he entered a store along one of the busiest streets in queens, he recognised a familiar laugh and his palms immediately began to grow clammy. ned noticed a shift in his best friend and smirked knowing all too well: y/n was here. peter made his way over to the shoes, cautiously looking around for y/n. sure, he was somewhat nervous but he was always able to actually talk to her. as his fingers ran over the stack of shoe boxes, looking for the right size, a giggly y/n and debbie walked right into peter.

'look who it is! y/n and debbie. debbie and y/n.' peter smiled. y/n roled her eyes partially while debbie gave a little laugh. 'still going out with that dope head?' he smirked.

'oh piss off peter.' y/n huffed. he just smiled and lightly chuckled. the girls walked past the boys and headed out. peter returned to his shoes and found the right size. after trying them on, peter walked around, looking for a new backpack. after he had found one, he and ned walked over to the register, paid and left, heading towards peter's apartment a couple blocks over.

meanwhile, debbie was teasing y/n about peter as they drank milkshakes at the casper's pizza.

'come onnnn! he's like in love with you! much better than danny!' debbie cheekily said.

'debs! come on! danny's not that bad.' y/n tried to convince herself that danny was halfway decent but she knew it was a façade.

the two finished up and went their seperate ways. y/n sat on the living room floor, watching the music video countdown and eating oranges. debbie was listening to a tape sam had made for her and reading an old book. peter was at home. alone. ned had left to help his mum make dinner. he was cherishing this precious quiet time and he could finally do his homework without getting interrupted by the smoke alarms from may's cooking attempts or ned asking questions about the avengers.

as nightfall came, debbie's dad had taken her brother out and her mother had fallen asleep. sam snuck through her window and the two consummated their relationship to the mixtape sam had given to debbie earlier. y/n was already out, sitting under a shelter by the football field with danny smoking on a nearby table. y/n was staring out at the stars and danny looked over, scoffing.

'what's wrong?' he asked.

'nothing.' y/n replied.

'do you wanna fuck then?' danny asked with a grin on his face.

'no! can't we just talk? me and debbie can talk for hours.' y/n said longingly.

'you girls are freaks.' danny said before giving a look of almost disgust. y/n scoffed and turned back to the lake, disgusted at danny. meanwhile, danny pulled out a small box and looked over to y/n.

'here.' he said. y/n looked over and got up, moving to the table. she grabbed the box and opened it in disbelief. it was a friendship ring. and everyone knows you ain't nothing till you get a friendship ring.

'thank you!' y/n almost squealed.

'so do you wanna fuck now?' danny asked again. y/n looked down at the ring and nodded her head. she looked at danny.

'ok.'

slowly but surely the other girls and boys showed up at the shelter and began drinking beers and lighting up some joints. the moment y/n looked up and saw debbie approaching, she jumped up and ran over in utter excitement.

'danny got me a ring!' she squealed.

'no way! oh my god! sam and i just did it! he got it in!' debbie laughed. the girls jumped and squealed before joining the others. the rest of the night was filled with drinks, getting high and couples sneaking off to fuck. it was nearing 2am when people decided to start leaving. debbie and y/n always walked together so danny and sam trailed behind the girls on the descent home. hugs and goodbyes and kisses were given as everyone split off. y/n snuck in quietly, successfully avoiding getting caught by her parents. she slipped into her pyjamas, feeling better about everything. especially about her and danny.
