y/n had spent her breaks with peter, ned and mj. she surprisingly had a lot of fun. the four laughed and made jokes, complained about flash and just had a good time. peter caught glances of y/n while she was laughing, etching her gorgeous form into his memory. y/n watched peter play with his hands and how he had such innocent eyes. it was sweet and she felt almost honoured to be able to observe such a pure boy.

last period was quickly approaching. y/n was waiting, tapping her pen, wishing for the bell to go. she wanted to see how good of a listener peter was and poke some fun at him. peter sat anxiously awaiting the bell to ring; he was nervous to see y/n and he prayed that she wouldn't bring up that damn book. the bell rang, peter speed walking down the hall to chemistry, leaving ned behind. he didn't care though, ned knew something had changed between y/n and peter. it was small but there was a shift.

peter walked through the door, making his way to the back where y/n was already seated. she smiled at peter as he walked in but then stuck her tongue out. he shook his head and took his seat next to her. mr hayden walked in and debriefed the class on their work for the day. it was just to continue on their project. peter and y/n looked at each other, silently agreeing to just do it outside of school. it was easier. once the clss broke out into chatter, peter sat nervously. he could only focus on the book and whether she would bring it up. y/n watched peter silently, noticing he seemed sort of anxious. she chalked it up to last night.

'hey.' she hushed quietly. peter looked at her with his eyes kind of wide. 'if you think i told anyone about, you know, the book. i didn't. i never break a promise.' y/n whispered. peter' body relaxed and he let out a breath.

'i- uh, thanks y/n.' he answered quietly.

'not even debbie, ok?' it's between us and us only.' y/n reassured. peter nodded.

peter grabbed out his homework from calculus and y/n grabbed out her junk journal. she mostly scribbled and wrote some stuff in it but it was just a brain dump kind of book. y/n flipped open to a new page. she looked at peter, holding her pen between her teeth as she watched him work on his calculus. she drew up a a table. pros and cons. she was still curious as to whether peter would be a good fit for her and if he would be willing to listen to her. he already had such a different energy compared to danny. he was genuine and had a softer feel to him unlike danny who had quite an abrasive personality.

y/n sat thinking of what to write.

pros: actually listens, funny, smart, actually talks, cute, sweet, thoughtful

cons: kinda awkward and shy

she couldn't think of too many cons at all. her only concern was that peter would be to awkward or shy to make any sort of move or maybe properly 'perform'. she looked over to peter again who was still working out some maths problems, brows furrowed, tongue slightly poking out with his curls in his eyes. it was quite an attractive sight.

there were 5 minutes of class left and y/n tapped peter on the shoulder to plan their next study session.

'when do you want to work on the project? i can do it tonight but i'm not sure if my dad is coming home or not.' y/n suggested.

'i uh can't really do tonight, i've gotta go to my internship.' peter answered. it was partly true. he didn't have to but he had blown it off for a couple of nights and needed to get back into it.

'huh cool. ok, um how about tomorrow? my house will be free all night because my mum's goign upstate to stay with my dad for a week.' y/n asked.

'sure that works for me. oh, wanna exchange numbers? you know, just in case plans change or something?' peter asked.

'sure, here.' y/n handed peter her phone, he handed her his one, typing in her number. 'i'll see you tomorrow.'

the bell rang, meaning the day was over. y/n gave a quick smile to peter and headed off to her locker. she walked home, the sun hot and bright. peter walked down to delmar's grabbing his usual and eating before suiting up and doing his 'internship duties'. y/n made it home quickly, eager for a glass of iced tea and some fruit. she called out for her mum and dad once she had stepped inside her house. no response. she slipped her shoes off and put her bag on the floor, heading to the kitchen. a note was on the fridge.

'hey darling, heading up to your father's this afternoon. i'll probably be gone when you read this. i won't be back till wednesday or thursday next week so look after yourself! plenty of food in the house but there's some money under your pillow for anything you might need. love you, mum xx.'

y/n smiled, walked over to the stereo and blasted some music dancing around in her living room. she had the house to herself for a whole week! y/n decided to get that iced tea and some left over oranges from the day before. she walked into her room, getting changed into a bikini, before grabbing the book peter had hesitantly looked through the night before. she made her way out he back door and sat down on a lounge chair by the pool. lathering sunscreen on and pulling her sunglasses down. she snacked on her fruit and drank her iced tea as her body was warmed by the sun. y/n began reading the book, taking a pen out and marking which things she wanted to try with little stars. after she had had enough of ready the book, y/n headed inside and put some comfy clothes on before sitting on the couch, switching the tv on.

peter had had a busy afternoon, helping people with directions, stopping some petty robberies and practicing his flips and balance. at one point he sat on one of the trains, on his phone. as peter sat away from the busy streets of queens, hidden by some old industrial buidings, eating his sandwich, he thought about y/n. he had had an interesting past few days and it all linked back to her. he was looking forward to tomorrow afternoon yet he was also nervous, not knowing where it could lead him because he certainly did not anticipate the events that had occurred the night before.
