debbie had walked home from y/n's to get ready for friday night dinner down at the club. y/n had started getting ready once her dad came back from work. she had put on a new pair of blue levis and a pink cropped polo shirt with her white converse. meanwhile, a few blocks away, peter parker was pulling on a jacket and his new shoes to go meet ned and mj down at the club. he snuck quietly out the front door, past may who was asleep on the couch with the tv blaring some old cartoon. he had taken around 15 dollars to to get some food.may wouldn't be mad. she knew peter went down to delmar's on fridays for dinner. peter walked on the footpath in the dark, down to the club, excited to see his friends and hopefully y/n.
y/n had started walking down to the club, enjoying the warm summer night air. once she arrived, she walk through the front entrance, looking for debbie. the two ran up to each other and ot the back to join the greenhills. as usual, they were already drinking and smoking. y/n saw danny drinking and smirking as he talked to one of the other boys. she felt nothing but pure disgust towards him. how did she even end up dating him? he was a slob and an absolute asshole. she shuddered at the thought of all those times he just used her for her body. debbie and y/n just talked, occasionally talking to some of the other girls.
it had been maybe an hour and a half of sitting around, smoking and drinking. y/n was bored. she wanted to leave but didn't want to go home yet either. remembering delmar's was still open, she asked debbie quietly if she want to go with her. debbie politely declined, she had come to the club with her parents and had a curfew. debbie had been grounded a lot lately and she was not about to end her first week of freedom in 2 months with another prison sentence. y/n smiled softly and said goodbye before making her way to the best deli in queens. as she approached the shop, she heard chatter and soft music, reminding her of when she used to sit outside the deli with her dad when she was younger.
as y/n stepped into the streetlight, she recognised a few people from school. not exactly the popular crowd but she never cared for social status. plus, she liked these kids, they were funny and she was infuriated whenever she heard people talk badly about them. as she walked closer to delmar's the group seemed to hush to a murmur and people turned to look over at her. peter noticed what was going on and turned to look around at what everyone was staring at. to his surprise, y/n showed up in fitted jeans and a tight shirt, with a soft look on her face. peter could hear footsteps approaching but he expected y/n to be the last person to show up.
y/n blushed a little at everyone's attention on her. she saw peter and rolled her eyes playfully. of course peter would be at delmar's.
'l/n.' peter greeted.
'parker.' she smirked lightly before pushing the door of the deli open, the bell ringing as she did. when mr delmar looked up, he smiled at y/n. he had seen her come in almost everyday after school for years.
'the usual, miss l/n?' he smiled.
'yes please. oh and some orange juice please.' she smiled. as she waited for mr delmar to make her sandwich, y/n gazed out of the window, observing the group of teens talking. mr delmar was never bothered by them hanging around his shop, they were all familiar faces and as long as they were customers, he didn't really care. y/n looked over to peter, ned and mj. they were probably talking about school or those star wars movies the boys seemed to love. y/n wouldn't ever admit it to anyone, but she really liked star wars. she was embarrassed because in fifth grade she had worn a star wars shirt and everyone teased her before some bully in her art class threw paint on her. she was mortified and vowed to never again publicly express her love for the movie series. god she hated how everyone was so judgemental over literally everything.
as she continued to stare at the group of 3, she saw peter throw his head back lightly and laugh. it was quite a sight. one that gave her little flutters. but she doesn't like peter. he's annoying and always wore those stupid nerdy science shirts and he always stared at her on the train to school. he always bumped into her and he was just so damn smart it irritated her.
