It's been a week since my interview for Variety. It's also been a week since I found out I was pregnant. Pregnant. That word hasn't gotten any easier. I carried on with this week at school as I anxiously awaited the dreaded call. It was hard to focus on my classes, but I managed. I finished class at noon on Friday and Noah finished at 12:45. I decided to text him and we met at a local coffee shop near campus. We ate lunch together, but my appetite was hardly there. He grabbed my hand and circled his thumb over the back of it; this gesture brought me out of my trance. I hadn't realized that I was staring off. "It's going to be okay," he says.

I sigh and squeeze his hand, "Yeah, I know. Whatever happens happens." He shoots me a weak smile and looks down at the table.

"Ad?" he questions.

"Hmm?" I replied.

"You gonna answer that?" I look down at the table and see my phone silently buzzing-- the number is unfamiliar. Maybe this is it. Shit. Shit! My eyes widen, I let go of Noah's hand, and scramble to answer the phone before I miss the call.

"This is Adeline!" I answer.

"Hi Adeline, this is Sophia Tang from Variety."

"Yes, hi Ms. Tang! How are you?"

"I'm good. Listen Adeline, let's cut the chit chat. We interviewed about 20 prospective interns and we've narrowed our selection down to two. If you're still interested, we would love to have you join our team at Variety."

My eyes shoot up to Noah's face and they bulge. Hot, happy tears fill my eyes. I feel the grin overtake my face and Noah lights up as I do. "Yes, of course! Thank you so much Ms. Tang!"

Sophia chuckles a bit, "Perfect. I'll have Elliot email you the schedule and more information. Work starts Monday."

"I'll be there," I replied, a bit too excited.

"Okay, ciao Adeline."

I put the phone down and just sat smiling at Noah. He jumps out of his seat and hugs me, kissing my face repeatedly. "I told you you could do it! I'm so proud of you!" he says. I just sit there, taking it all in. This was the best thing to happen to me all week. I would finish out my last semester of college with an internship at my dream job. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad afterall. Maybe there really was a silver lining to this situation-- to my life. Maybe my life really is just getting started.
