That Saturday, Toby woke up in high spirits. He'd slept in, and felt more refreshed. Tommy was already up, given the empty bed on the other side of the room, so Toby pushed himself up. Still in his pajamas, he made his way downstairs, where the smell of pancakes made its way into his nose.
Pog- he thought to himself, smiling a bit.
He made his way down the stairs, thinking about the last week. It was still unbelievable when he thought about it. He was a hero. Not nearly as big or well known at Technoblade, but he didn't care about that... He still wasn't completely comfortable with his powers yet. It was just too easy to manipulate people. Sure it took concentration on his part, but especially since they weren't expecting it, it was so easy to turn other humans into his puppets. And he didn't want that. That was a large part of why he never wanted to reveal his identity. Not his friends, his parents, the twins, not even Tommy. He'd considered it after that first official night as Tubbo, Tommy was his best friend after all.
Then, he'd remembered the fear in the ice cream vendors eyes the first time he'd used his powers. The fear and anger of the robber he'd stopped. If his powers caused fear and hostility in strangers, how would those closest to him react? They'd grown up with him, trusted him, and he had lied to them. He could only imagine their reactions. People hated being controlled. This power was best kept out of his life outside of hero work. There was no real practical way to apply it outside of being a hero anyways.
He made his way to the kitchen, where he saw Phil flipping pancakes, Kristin putting finished ones on a large plate. Techno was sleepily making coffee, Wilbur was humming as he got out the milk and Tommy was in the pantry getting syrup.
"Morning" he smiled, going to grab silverware for everyone
"Morning Toby-" Tommy grinned, "Enjoy your beauty rest?"
"Mhm-"
He yawned, setting everyone's silverware at the table before sitting by Techno, who'd gotten his cup of coffee and sat down seeming to still be half asleep. Toby noticed bandages on his older brother's hands. That usually happened when he overused his power, and his hands started to burn from the heat. It took a lot to do that usually. The burns usually healed, but he had more than a few burn scars on his hands as a result. There was also a gauze pad on his brothers cheek.
"Busy night last night..?" he asked.
Techno grunted, nodding and taking a sip of coffee before saying, "Some of Schlatt's guys, I'm assuming...nasty, persistent bastards.."
Toby paused. He'd taken a break from going out last night to get some rest. He was partially glad now, though part of him wondered if he'd have been able to help Techno had he been there. He had been avoiding the areas his brother usually patrolled, not sure how Technoblade and Tubbo would react to each other. It was probably for the best, for now at least.
"Well, glad you're ok, if not completely uninjured" he smiled, which garnered a small chuckle from the other before he took another sip of his coffee. Soon plates were passed around, pancakes were taken, and breakfast began. It was a good saturday morning.
The rest of the day progressed fairly calmly, well as calm as it could be in their house. Techno, motivated by his fight the day before, went over some defensive moves with his brothers, which Toby actually enjoyed, despite his older brother going full on personal trainer sometimes. Phil had been teaching them self defense since they were younger, but when Techno became a hero, he started making sure the moves were still fresh in their minds.
"Better safe than sorry" He'd said
Toby enjoyed these refreshers. It was a lot of fun, especially when they went 3 vs 1. No powers, just hand to hand. Techno usually won those, but they were fun nonetheless. After that, they had lunch, then Toby and Tommy played video games for a few hours. Later that night, they all regrouped for dinner, which was pretty calm for them. The six of them had a sort of game night (Always dangerous with Wilbur and Tommy together), before they broke for bed. Tommy and Toby sat on their respective beds, talking and laughing, until Wilbur half jokingly yelled at the two of them to shut up and go to bed, which made them laugh more, but eventually, Tommy dozed off and Toby laid in bed, thinking. He was debating whether to go out tonight, and eventually decided on yes. He had gotten enough rest last night, and he probably won't be out late anyhow. He stealthily got up, suited up, and Tubbo snuck out into the night.
"Alright L'Manberg, what's going on tonight..?" he murmured to himself as he made his way to a roof. He'd found they were good lookout points. He could see the streets below, and he stayed out of sight until he was needed. He hadn't quite mastered the whole "jumping from rooftop to rooftop" thing that heroes did in movies and television. So until he did, he mostly climbed carefully from roof to roof when he needed to move. Tonight seemed like a peaceful one, well as far as crime went. The city center in the distance looked alive from where he was. He glanced down from the roof he was on, and noticed a familiar tall figure walking down the street. He almost called out to him, before remembering that he was Tubbo at the moment.
He watched Ranboo walk down the street, and turned to go to a nearby roof to keep patrolling, when he heard a yelp, and whirled around to see his friend getting pulled into an alley by two people. His eyes widened in shock, and he made his way across the rooftops as fast as he could. As he got closer to the alley, he heard voices getting louder.
"H-hey guys, I don't want any trouble-"
"Then give us all your money, and we won't have any trouble kid-" A man snarled
"Ok, Ok there's no need for a knife..."
"Just shut up and give us what we want-" The second mugger growled. It sounded like a woman.
"Please-"
Tubbo jumped down into the alley, holding his hands out, before seeing two confused looking strangers, one holding a knife, and fading purple particles. No Ranboo. He latched on to the muggers' limbs.
"Where's the kid you tried to mug?"
"W-we don't know man! He just disappeared a second ago!" The guy yelped, eyes wide with shock.
"Disappeared?" He frowned under the bandana
"Y-yeah! We didn't do anything to him!" the lady with the knife said.
Toby frowned, but sighed. He made the lady drop her knife and started walking with them towards the police station. "Let's go now shall we?"
He felt them resist a little, but they seemed to be in shock for the most part, and by the time they snapped out of it they were already being handcuffed. Before the officers could talk to him, Toby had bolted off once again.
