Damian walked silently through the halls. The school was loud, filled witch crying seniors wishing everyone farewell. Damian sighed and continued walking. He said goodbye to any seniors he knew, now he was just trying to get out of school. He had just finished his Science exam and was sick of school now. He couldn't wait for summer, but he also wasn't excited for it to come. As the days grew shorter, the plan to take down the League came closer.
Damian finally made it out of school. He was greeted by Sam and Nolan. They were both talking about how excited they were for summer. They made the trek back home. "Damian, what's wrong?" Nolan asked, wrapping an arm around his best friend. Damian clicked his tongue, attempting to shake Nolan's arm off of him. "Nothing." Sam rolled his eyes, "Oh don't pull that shit Damian. Tell us what's wrong or we'll beat it out of you." Damian hesitated for a moment. He sighed, "are you guys not worried about taking down the League of Assassins?"
Nolan laughed, "of course we are Damian, but I think it's much deeper that that." Damian sighed again, finally getting Nolan's arm off of him. "What if we lose? What if the bats find out I'm alive? What if I have to leave you guys? What if someone dies!" Sam laughed, "Oh Damian you're so dramatic. What if we win?" Damian thought about that, what if they did win? Would they go on and live a normal life. Go to college, get jobs, start families? Would they stop living in constant fear that something would happen?
The rest of them would, Damian knew that. They would be able to sleep at night knowing nobody would try and hurt them. Damian on the other hand, well he still had the bats to worry about. Trying to live a normal teenage life while keeping his cover. One slip up could ruin everything. There would be consequences. The more he though about it, the positives outweighed the negatives. He could protect his friends, no, his family.
Damian sighed, "Yeah, I guess you're right." Nolan nodded, "of course we are right! Beside, We can have bragging right! We took down the league of assassins when nobody else could." Sam rolled his eyes, "many other people could take down the league of assassins." Damian nodded, "Maybe, but none of them had the balls to do it." Sam snorted, pulling up his phone again.
"Damian, don't worry! We will all beat up any of the bats if they try and take you away," Nolan said, trying to reassure Damian. Damian just laughed, "No offence, but I don't think any of you could beat Batman." Sam looked over at Damian, "Well then we will die trying." Damian gave Sam a short smile before Nolan ruined the moment. "Sam, that doesn't make sense. The bats don't kill."
Sam rolled his eyes, "It's a metaphor." Nolan thought about it for a second, before understanding. "Sometimes I wonder how you even passed this year Nolan," Damian said. Nolan laughed, "I'm book smart just not, people smart." Damian laughed at that. When they finally got home, Antonio was waiting for them.
"Hi Antonio" They boys greeted him as they took their shoes off. The old man smiled, "Ah, boys come here." Antonio motioned them towards the kitchen, where some documents were waiting for them. "What are these," Sam asked. "Ah, we'll they are wills. I need one of you to put your signatures down. Whoever signs the will receives all of my belongings once I did." Nolan looked at the man in panic, "Oh my god, are you dying!" Antonio laughed, "No, but I am old. That's just the circle of life, I'm going to pass on soon."
Damian looked up, "What will happen when you do pass on?" Antonio hesitated for a moment, "Well, one of you will get all of my belongings. Someone will keep all of my books on magic and hopefully pass it on." Damian was the first to grab the pen. He quickly wrote down his signature without a second thought. Sam looked hesitant, "Damian, are you sure it's a good idea for you to write down your name?"
Damian nodded, "I'm the most responsible," Nolan made a sound of disagreement, "and if anything happens i'll have a reason to stay in Saudi," Damian continued. Sam sighed, "Okay, I guess your right." Damian clicked his tongue, "Of course, I'm always right." Sam rolled his eyes, then watched as Antonio hid the papers in a high up shelf.
"Wait, don't you have to give that to the government" Nolan asked, following after the man. Antonio nodded, "I don't plan on dying any time soon, the papers can wait a few weeks." Nolan hummed in agreement. "Somethings that can't wait a few weeks is the suits. Come downstairs and we can make any last minute touches on them." Damian hearted stuttered at the mention, but that didn't stop him from following them downstairs.
