"And, after all, what is a lie? 'Tis but the truth in a masquerade," —Alexander Pope

Ah, Greenwood Town Police Station. So peaceful. Except for the occasional shoplifters that thought they were slick, the place was pretty much empty. Those are the perks of living in a small town. There aren't many crimes around here, at least not any big ones because small is supposed to mean safe, right?
And that's why there are a lot of reporters outside the station, eager to get a look at the boy who supposedly killed the town's beloved girl.
Detective Wilson let Nikolai out if the interrogation, his nose scrunched in annoyance and his mouth formed into a frown. He was bummed that he couldn't get any information out of the blue eyed boy.
Nikolai looked around, anger and annoyance still in his eyes. He glanced at the door as if he was waiting for someone, and right on cue did the doors swing open. A short blonde woman quickly ran over to Niko. Her short heels clicked through the silent office as she opened her arms for the boy a few feet away from her.
Nikolai gladly accepted her embrace and he hugged her tightly. They stayed holding each other as if the world was ending for a few seconds before she pulled away and gently placed a hand on his cheek, causing the teenage boy to hopelessly melt into her touch, "Oh my god, sweetheart- Are you okay? What happened? Did you get hurt?"
Nikolai sniffled, and he shook his head, "I'm fine.. I'm just, uhm.. I'm sorry for calling last minute- and uh, is it okay if I pay you later? Money is really tight right now a-and if my dad finds out, he will-"
The woman just hugged him again, "Don't worry about the money, I have it covered, okay? You're going to be okay, you hear me?"
Nikolai relaxed at the soft tone of the woman holding him, feeling relief wash over him as he realized that he had another person to rely on through this whole shit show.
They pulled away again once they heard a throat clearing. Wilson stood there awkwardly, raising his eyebrows. He lifted up his hand to the woman, "I'm Detective Ryder Wilson, the lead detective on Coraline's case."
The blonde huffed, glaring at the man as she shook his hand. It was as if venom spat out of her mouth as she said, "I'm Aria Reid.. I'm Nikolai's lawyer. Anything you know about the case I want you to have it in a file and send me a copy."
And holy fuck was that fucking intimidating. Nikolai swore even Wilson shivered in fear a bit.
"Uhm.. okay then.. the documents you need to sign are over at the front desk."
