Any night in Ketterdam was thrilling, especially the ones Kaz Brekker was cracking plans.

They were making their way from Dreeden's lovely big house. Jesper thoughts raced back to the club. He could try some of his luck again. Maybe overhear one of the players talking about a journey across the Fold. You never know what you can catch during a good game.

Most games were good. Even when he lost, he still gained something. At least he liked to say he gained experience. Though it didn't seem like it. Especially not the past couple of times. He should get Kaz to deal him again. He could make the entire game go in his favour. If he only made him.

The three walked silent, nothing but light rain to accompany the wet sound of their footsteps. Kaz was scheming. Jesper could see it from his face. Inej wore a worried look. It struck him as odd. He rarely saw her worry. Maybe rarer than he saw her blend into the shadows. His thoughts went back to the place where he could find something more about the crossing of the Fold.

The Emerald Palace was ringing some bells to him. He could go. Attempt in his luck again. Talk to one of those dirty Dime Lions. Ask them if their boss ever attempted it. He could even spy on them. Heck, he could be like Mayra. He could go back to the Slat, take one of her wigs and steal one of Rotty's suits. He could go dressed as someone else and play until he gets what he wants. He could use a bit of his charm here and there. It was easy. Scheming was easy. He could do it more often.

Only it took too much work and the Slat was so far away. None of Mayra's wigs were short enough to look male, plus he didn't even know if she used any. He was sure of a white one, but it wouldn't suit him well. He didn't have the right clothes to go with it and guessed neither did Rotty. Besides he would drown in his clothes. Maybe if I just go to the Emerald Palace dressed as myself and flirt the information out of them? It sounded like a reasonable plan. In his head.
