(kel pov)

... Morning.

After failing awfully at every game I played last night, I decided to just go to bed early. Hero is coming back from school today, anyways, so I thought I should be well rested. I can't say that that's what happened but It's the thought that counts, I guess. I put on my clothes; my tank top with the school basketball team's logo on it and a random pair of shorts I pulled out from my closet. I can't say I care much about what I'm wearing-- I never have. That was always sort of a Hero thing.

I move down into the kitchen, my parents sitting at the table already, Sally in mom's arms. "Mornin' mom," I yawn, sitting down across from my dad. There's eggs and toast on the table, and I grab some and put it onto my plate. "Morning, Kel," My mother grumbles. "Sleep good...?" Since Sally was born, mom has been much more tired in the mornings-- though, I can't really blame her for it, and Sally's too cute to blame for anything.

"I slept good!" I lie blatantly, but they're too tired to really notice. Truth is I slept awful, but they don't need to know that I was up late thinking about Sunny despite having gone to bed early, and then proceeded to dream about him. And they definitely don't need to know about the fact that we were close friends again in the dream. Or that we may have held hands in the dream. Or that... we may or may not have exchanged "I love you"s as Hector destroyed the world around us with his laser eyes. Was is normal to feel like this about someone who wasn't even interested in you, and furthermore, liked someone else? I'm not really sure.

Sally's giggling brings me back down to earth, and the food in front of me. I eat quickly, and bring my empty plate to the sink. "I think I'm gonna hang out with Sunny again today when I pick up the the food for Hero's comin' home party today! Figured I should hang out with him as much as I can before he leaves, y'know?" She nods and tells me to be home by five as I leave the house, And I head off towards Sunny's.

Alrighty... just forget about that dream Kel! Don't think about it! Stoppit!.... Dang, trying not to think about something is hard, huh.

I ring the doorbell, and for a short moment I kind of hope he's not home, or he won't answer-- just something so that I don't have to face him. But of course, he's home, and he opens the door shortly after I ring the bell.

He stands in the doorway, not coming out, but not retreating immediately. "Hey Sunny! You up for another day of fun?" I smile, trying not to think about-- y'know. "I've gotta get some more stuff before Hero comes home, so let's go!"

He just nods-- I guess he's not in the mood for talking, though that's not weird for him. I'm happy that he's coming, though. I catch myself smiling and standing there like an idiot... whoops. We start off towards the plaza once again, and I notice that Sunny passes some fish to a stray cat. Seeing how content it is as it chews the meal, I'm reminded that I forgot to invite Sunny to dinner yesterday, just as I thought I would... Well, no time better than the present, right?

"Hey, do you wanna have dinner at my place tonight, Sunny? I meant to ask yesterday but..." I laugh and trail off, overly anxious to hear his reply. If he says no, I'm pretty sure I'll end up just dying right then and there. Thankfully, he nods. "Alright, awesome!! I'm sure Hero will love to see you again!" I'm not really sure if he will, but I sure as hell hope he's smart enough to hide how he's feeling.

We make it to the plaza and head into Gino's, and I collect the Hero sandwich mom ordered. I catch sunny looking at the 'help wanted' sign that's in front of the counter, but he shakes his head and we depart.

Shoot, now what?

I open my mouth to bring up something about the weather, but my decision is made for me when we hear a cry from the park. Is that.... Basil? The person shouts again, and this time, it's painfully clear that it's him. I look to Sunny, and he looks completely and utterly terrified. Does he realize it's Basil? Come to think of it, weren't those two best friends? What happened there?? I try and think if anything happened between them, but nothing comes up... Maybe I should ask him? "Sunny--" I start, wanting to know why he's not rushing to help his best friend, but Basil's cries for help interrupt me. "C'mon, we gotta go find him!"
