Amara's POV
We managed to get upstairs without anyone catching us. It was difficult to get past everyone because everyone was at the wedding, and they knew what happened between Luca and I.
I just wanted to get to Luca so bad.
I miss him so much
Derek said he had some guns waiting for us in a supply closet in a empty hallway, which was where we were at right now.
There was a change of clothes for me, and when we finished grabbing everything, we headed out, getting into the car Jack had called in for us.
"So what's the plan?" I asked, sitting in the passenger seat as Derek drove to the warehouse.
"There's an entrance through the sewers in the back, we'll have to go through there." He said, and I nodded, looking out the window.
It was now late at night, and I could feel the anxiety pool in my stomach.
What if he's already dead?
I shook those thoughts away, I don't want to assume the worst.
"We're going to get him out of there, Amara. Don't worry." Jack said from behind me, a hand on my shoulder.
"Thanks guys." I smiled at them.
"Why are you so okay with saving him?" I asked.
They stayed quiet for a moment, until Alec spoke up.
"It seems like you really like him, and you're our friend."
"Even though he is the enemy, we like whoever you like." Derek continued on, making my smile widen.
"Thank you guys, truly." I said again, and they all smiled back.
We didn't say anything else the rest of the ride, and I felt the waves of nervousness crash into my stomach as we pulled behind the warehouse, out of sight so the guards won't see.
We hopped out of the car, walking toward where the sewers started.
"Is this really the only way?" Jack said while Derek opened the top.
"Yep." He said before jumping in, the sound of splashing water coming from inside.
"Fuck me." Alec said, before jumping in behind him.
Jack held is nose, his eyes now on me. "Peretti better be alive after this." He said before jumping in after them.
I held my breath as I took the jump, water now against my feet as I was underground.
"This is fucking disgusting." Jack muttered as we walked forward, the sewer water splashing against our feet.
"Just suck it up, we're almost there." Derek said, sounding desperate to get Jack to stop talking.
We were walking for fifteen more minutes before we reached the ladder that lead to the warehouse.
I climbed first, opening the top and checking to see if anyone was around.
When the coast was clear, I fully opened it, allowing all of us to climb through.
"Never again." Jack groaned, trying to wipe the water off of his pant legs.
"Can you shut up." I shouted quietly, lightly pushing him to make him stop complaining.
He gave me a glare as we continued to walk forward, our guns out as we stepped carefully.
"Do you know where he is?" I whispered to Derek, and he nodded his head, signaling to follow him.
He lead us to a hallway, doors on either sides of the wall.
"Is this where we torture people?" I asked quietly, and when I heard a scream, my question was answered.
"Never mind." I muttered.
We quickly hid behind a wall as we saw a door open, and I peaked behind it to see who it was.
Mason
He had blood all over his hands, an evil look on his face as he rolled up his shirt sleeves.
I watched as he walked over towards another door, opening it and then closing it quickly.
I motioned for the guys to follow me and we carefully looked through the door's window.
I felt like I couldn't breathe when I saw the person who sat in the chair. Their face was bloody and covered in bruises, their hands tied to the chair behind them.
Fuck, my heart hurt as I watched Mason hit him in the face, his head turning from the impact.
Luca didn't look scared, nor upset. He just sat there, a smirk on his face as he spit out the blood from his mouth onto the floor.
I went to open the door but Alec stopped me, "Mason will know you escaped, we can't do anything until he leaves."
I wanted to protest, but I knew he was right. So I had to watch. I had to watch Luca get beat from Masons hands, blood now spilling everywhere.
Every hit took a piece of my heart out, I felt the tears start to prick in my eyes and I had to look away, Derek rubbing my back as I averted my gaze from the room.
Once we saw Mason come for the door, we quickly crawled behind the wall again, making sure Mason was out of sight before we rushed into the room.
I gasped when I saw him, and when he looked up, he gave a light smile.
"Amara."
