Vinnie held my hand almost the entire car ride. The only time he'd let go was to change the gear shift but he'd stick his hand right in mine again when he was done.
Vinnie parks the car in the parking lot of a Italian restaurant with beautiful rose bushes out front and I smile.
He turns off the car and turns to me, "I called them and asked if they cook any of their foods in peanut oil or anything with peanuts and they said no."
Oh my god.
I raise my brows at him and tilt my head, so he rolls his lips into his mouth.
"Is that weird?" He asks softly and I shake my head.
"No," I answer and squeeze his hand in mine. "It's... thoughtful." I nod my head, "no one has ever done that besides my mom."
He bites his bottom lip and nods his head, bouncing a tad, like he's proud of himself.
He should be; That was incredibly sweet.
He lets go of my hand and bobs his head toward the restaurant, "You ready?"
"Yes." I grab my door handle while I answer and we both climb out.
I close the car door and walk around to the front of the car with him. He stands beside me, his gaze fixated on me for a split second like he wants to say something but he doesn't. He looks away and starts to walk off so I grab onto his arm gently and look up at him.
He avoids my gaze, his awkwardness peaking through while we walk together up to the restaurant. We get a seat pretty fast, and move to the back to a table away from the hustle.
There's a picturesque window beside us, giving us a view of a busy LA street. Vinnie sits across me, shifting to get comfortable in his seat while I tuck my purse onto my lap.
"Have you been here before?" I ask him and he nods his head.
"Once, and it was really good. I haven't had it since though, and that was like a year ago so if the food is shit please don't hate me."
"If the food is shit," I lean against the table, "I'm never speaking to you again."
He rolls his eyes playfully at me, "Like you could do that."
There he is.
"You really think I rely on you that much?" I prop my elbow up on the table, putting my cheek into my hand.
He mimics me, and looks me up and down, his gaze moving slowly.
Holy fuck that was hot.
YIKES- JUNIPER WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?
"Oh I know it." He licks his bottom lip, "You always text me back within seconds."
"And you do too!" I point out with a short laugh, "So what? Because I text you back fast, I rely on you? I'll be sure not to next time."
He sticks his bottom lip out, "Boo."
We both look up at a waitress who tucks a strand of blond hair behind her ear, her eyes on Vinnie. She holds a set of menus close to her chest as she awkwardly stands there for a second, making my brain trigger a little itch in nh brain that makes me want to do the Debbie Ryan face.
"Hi," she looks to me but then immediately turns back to Vinnie, "I'm Alyssa, What can I get you two to drink?"
You need some water.
