"So, do you really think your father will tell you anything useful?" Dakota questioned as Tyler parked his hummer in front of the old colony house.

"I don't know," Abilene responded as the four friends climbed out of the hummer and began walking the path to the front door, "Covenant issues, yes.  Bonding, no."

"Well, you know I always have your back, but your dad scares the shit out of me so I'm gonna head downstairs," Dakota whispered as they entered the house.  "I'm with her," Tyler decided before hurrying after Dakota.

"Traitors," Abilene hissed before turning to look at Reid, "Are you abandoning me too?"

"I mean your dad's a scary dude, but you have the power of withholding sex, and that's scarier," he responded taking her hand as Abilene rolled her eyes.  Climbing up the steps to the large sitting room she gripped Reid's hand tightly as they shuffled into the room.

"You've returned," Gorman stated standing from his chair and moving towards where they stood.

"We need to ask some questions.  Is he up for it today?" Abilene asked.

"His mind is still sharp.  It's his body that's tired," Gorman replied gesturing them forward.

Taking a deep breath Abilene moved towards where her father sat in a chair by the fireplace.  Moving around the chair she took Gorman's seat while Reid hovered next to her.  Lifting her eyes, she looked at her father for the first time in almost a year.

"Father," she called quietly waiting patiently until he finally opened his eyes,

"We were hoping you could tell us of any issues with other covenants and maybe help us contact an ancestor," she requested

"We were hoping you could tell us of any issues with other covenants and maybe help us contact an ancestor," she requested.

"Whatever for?" Gorman questioned coming to stand behind William's chair.

"There's someone who's like us, and he wants my gift.  I thought that if Reid and I bonded first this person couldn't try and steal it," she explained, "We just wanted to talk to an ancestor to be sure."

"Ancestors don't just come when summoned," Gorman told them, "They have to want to speak to you."

"Well, we think they might," Reid responded.

"Why?" William asked flicking his eyes between the two teens.

Biting her lip, Abilene glanced up at Reid before sighing, "The other night when we were downstairs.  Something was different," she answered without directly looking at either her father or Gorman.

"You mean when you were fornicating in the sacred circle," Gorman stated.

"Gorman!"  "Seriously?" Both Abilene and Reid exclaimed at the same time.

Dropping her head into her hands Abilene massaged the headache that was forming, "We just want to try and ascertain our bonding will work," she said tiredly.
