Well...
Ropes became a substitute for glue, and glue became a substitue for a stone, hard, and empty, and cold, but useful.
Okay, I should stop talking metaphorically.
My point is, I became the rope. Ever since that day the Avengers decided to place me as one, I didn't want to but it's for the good, it wasn't ideal but it's what we need.
And so, The Avengers are officially back to the game, watching each others six, like usual.
Four in the afternoon, I made my way inside the compound, just after I had another stakeout, alone. As I made my way further the corridor, I noticed something unusual. Silence.
The agents were there but they were acting a little bit out of place, eyeing me as if I was a pile of meat and they were the prey that was ready to eat me. Whispers.
I walked and walked, ignoring their stares and gossips, it was uncomfortable but I didn't mind, let them stare and gossip, besides people gossip 'cause they're jealous and envy.
Stepping inside the conference room, I pratically tossed the USB drive to the Director who was sitting across the table, facing me.
"The underground was...empty, and weird, and suspicious, and most of all dusty, could've warn me to wear face masks." I stated, nonchalantly, only whispering the last part of it.
"All that in four cornered room?" He questioned in amusement, disregarding the nonsense of my complain, and I shrugged.
"Guess so."
He rose to his feet, taking in a deep breath while placing both his hands on each side of his waist. I kept my mouth shut as I watched him do his own thing, and only then did I notice that we weren't alone in the room. The seats of the glass table was occupied.
I cleared my throat, shuffling by my feet awkwardly, as I felt their gaze on me.
"You didn't notice us." Clint points out.
"Yes, I did." I defended, a smirk growing in my lips as I look back to the arrowhead.
He arched an eye brow. "You did not."
"I did."
"Oh, you didn't, you thought it was just you and Fury." Sam buts in.
"And so." I raised my eyebrows at him and he uncomfortably shuffeled on his seat. "I noticed you guys." I continued calmly and that's when everything started.
We didn't drop the 'uncalled' conversation until I admitted that I did infact didn't notice them. Was it my fault that I was concentrated on finishing my job?
"You're too focus and serious." Stated by Wanda and I made an eyeroll.
"She's not wrong you know, you've been working yourself out nonstop as if you were the only Avenger." Agreed by Steve.
"You have to loosen up a bit, kid." Followed by Tony and I sighed in annoyance.
The room fell in awkward silence as we all eyed each other, but then I furrowed my own eye brows, when I spotted something at the end of the room, just behind Fury.
"Romanoff come out now, that's enough hiding." Tony called out as he looks at where she was standing.
My eyes goes back to Wanda and she arched an eye brow in a questioning manner before shrugging her shoulders, pretending as if she didn't have anything to do with this.
I looked back to the assassin and by that time she was now facing us — me, to be more specific.
She smiled.
