The Mission

One

I sighed and entered the school. It was Tuesday. The start of second quarter. I sat at the table listening to my music. We are allowed our phones during morning and lunch. I saw four people walk in. They were mainly wearing black and grey. They were new.

A few people glanced at them as so did I. They were all absolutely stunning. They were perfect. The only odd think off is their skin. Their skin was pale. Like really really pale.

I looked down and worked on scanning their minds just curious about it. I wonder if Becca will start more rumors about vampires?

I couldn't get their specific thoughts due to everyones else was so loud thinking about "oh god theres new students" "hes so hot" "shes drop dead gorgeous,"

I rolled my eyes at their thoughts and focused on their minds, but I still couldn't reach them. Everyone's thoughts were giving me a headache, so I stood and walked down the hall to get to my class early. I had language first period. There are two options for language. Spanish and Italian. I already knew Spanish, so I chose Italian.

"Good morning, Izzy," Ms. May said.

"Good morning Ms. May," I said.

"How was your weekend?" She asked.

"Fairly simple. Just worked most of the day," I shrugged.

"What do you do again?"

"Basically 1:1 in a hospital who ever needs a sitter," I Replied. "I work 12 hour days Saturday and Sunday."

"Oh yes I remember you got that job recently,"

"Yes," I smiled.

"Do we have any new students today?" I asked.

She looked over to her laptop. "Yes we have two," she said. "Felix and Jane."

I nodded and smiled some. I wonder if it was those pale kids in the cafeteria.

It was quiet in here. I enjoyed it. The only thoughts I heard were Ms. May's.

The bell rang shortly after. I sat down at my typical seat and waited for the students to file in. There were only 13, now 15 in this class.

I saw a male he was quite large, very muscular come in. That must be Felix. Then there was a short female with blonde hair. Jane.

They sat down in the two chairs next to me. I looked down and listened to their thoughts.

Which one is Becca? Felix had thought.

I turned my head towards him. Looking for a moment but I met eyes with Felix and immediately he narrowed his eyes at me.

The female, Jane, just rolled her eyes. "Shes not doing anything Felix. Just stick to the mission," she whispered quietly to Felix.

I heard it all. "All the stares are annoying," Felix said rolling his eyes.

"That's usually happens with new students," she replied to him. "All we have to do is get Becca and kill her," she said.

My eyes widened some. Kill Becca? Were vampires actually real? Were they vampires? Kill Becca?

I wasn't in particular friends with Becca... at all. She betrayed me after my parents died. Telling other students that I was homeless and parentless. So, I'm not a particular fan of her. But why kill her?

I focused on their thoughts again. Im thirsty. The girl smells so good. Ill take her after class.

Wait? Was he talking about me? Are they actually vampires?

I looked down my breath picking up some. Izzy, you are just being paranoid.

What's wrong with this chick?

Okay now I know he is talking about me.

I stood after 40 minutes into class to and headed to the bathroom. I stayed there for several minutes before coming back needing space for a moment.

I slightly heard the conversation they were having.

"You can't take her. It'll be suspicious killing one but more, two?"

"She smells so good though," Felix replied.

"I know. But we can't take anyone else at this school," she said.

"Fine," Felix rumbled.

I sat back down and I tuned out their thoughts. Once class was over I stood and headed to my next class.

I looked down. Felix and another male was there. He looked like Jane. Were they twins?

This time I sat as far away as possible from them not wanting to listen to their thoughts anymore at the moment.

This was my favorite class. Anatomy. I want to become a doctor. Thats what Im planning to do is go to medical school. I took the AP version of this. This isn't typically an AP class but Michelle, who liked being called by her first name, adjusted the class personally for me. I had the normal textbook along with the AP version which just had more details and homework in there. I watched smiling.

"For the next few days we will be learning about the heart, we will be doing a heart dissection in two weeks. We will be learning the purpose of the heart, different chambers and veins and arteries," she said.

I smiled at it immediately "cool!" I said excitedly.

There were some groans and some faces turn pale. I rolled my eyes at that. I looked back seeing Felix and the other not looking too happy. Ive taken this class every year, every semester. So I know about Everything. The dissection is the best part of the class! Im surprised were doing it so soon.

I took the paper she handed it out filling out the diagram by heart. Haha get it? By heart? I rolled my eyes and tried not to let out a giggle at my joke.

I stood and moved over to Michelle.

"Hey Izzy can you do me a favor?" She asked.

"Yeah of course," I said.

"Theres two new students Felix and Alec and just by the look on their face they don't seem happy or comfortable about it since you've taken this so many times would you mind helping them?" She asked.

Anything but that, "Of course," I nodded.

"I'll let them know after class," she said.

"Here's your assignment for the next two weeks. Write 2,000 word essay about the heart, uses of the heart, how each chamber works and how to dissect. Its due on the day we do the dissection.

"Alright, Thank you," I smiled at it and sat back down.

After the Bell rang I went outside to go to lunch.
