I was unsure if I even wanted to help the two. Especially Felix. He makes me nervous. But I want to know more about them. They aren't human. I already figured that out. But we have to be partners. I sat down putting my headphones in at lunch trying to tune out all thoughts and everyone else's thoughts as well. I couldn't eat lunch; I had no appetite. I just wanted to go home.
Lunch ended too soon. In the next class I sat down. It was Algebra 2 which I struggled in but I am making it through it. I saw Becca walk in and I narrowed my eyes at her. She looked so smug. I saw another male. Wow this is a small school. I swear new kids in every single one of my classes.
There was assigned seating in this class. Assigned seats in high school. Beyond fucking stupid. "Demetri you can sit by Izzy," Mr. H said.
Of course they have him sit next to me. I mean... it can't be worse than Felix.
He was the worst teacher here. No one likes him.
Demetri moved over. "Hello," he said to me.
I was slightly shocked. "Hello," I said to him.
"I'm Demetri. It's nice to meet you," he said.
"Izzy," I bit my lip reading his thoughts.
'She's smoking hot'
I blushed immediately "I am not," I said. Oh shit. I cant believe I said that outloud.
"Not what?" He asked.
Fuck... what do I do? What do I say without sounding like a total idiot. "Just talking to myself," I said. "Get pretty bored over here." That was fucking stupid Izzy. Embarrassing.
He watched, me for a few moments, studying me. He probably thinks I'm complete idiot... crazy. He nodded and shook his head.
Come on save yourself Izzy. I bit my lip. "So, you're new here?" I asked.
"Yeah, me and my family just moved from Italy. Jane, Felix, Alec and I," he said.
"What made you move?" I asked.
'To kill Becca,' his thoughts went. "No reason in particular," he chuckled.
I rolled my eyes at it.
"Any tips at the school?" he asked.
"Steer clear of Anna, she's a flirt and tries to get any new boy who arrives, The counselor Jamie. He's an ass," I paused. Should I mention Becca? "Uh... Becca she's a backstabbing bitch," I whispered looking at her direction. "Food wise? Skip the casserole and milk its always expired," I said.
He nodded. "You don't like Becca?" He asked.
"No, not in particular. She spread rumors about me when my parents died," I said.
"I'm sorry," he said.
I nodded and looked down. Then I stared at Becca. "Shes always so smug I wish I could just punch her in the face," I said.
He tried not to laugh.
"Have you taken this class before?" I asked.
"Yes. It's fairly simple to me. I took it in Italy, but my credits didn't transfer so I have to take it over again," He shrugged.
Liar I thought.
"I'm not very good at math. Though, I should be as I really want to go to medical school," I said.
"Well, um I can help if you'd like," he said.
"Uh... Id actually appreciate it," I said.
"Of course," he said and smiled at me. "Have you always lived in New York?" He asked.
"No," I sighed. "I moved here around a year ago from Washington, my mom got a job here," I said. "My parents died 6 months ago in a car accident," I looked down.
"I'm sorry," he said and gently touched my hand.
His hand was so cold.
"It's okay," I shrugged at it.
He looked down at it.
I didn't speak much
"What's your next class?" He asked.
"I actually have early release," I said. "I graduate at the end of the year. I only need my math credit and global studies. Also watch out for Karen, the teacher, she's a total bitch," I said.
He chuckled at it and looked up at the teacher.
I looked down and sighed thinking about my parents. I wasn't really able to think about anything else until the bell rang.
"Izzy?" Demetri asked.
"Yes... sorry... I was just thinking," I said.
"It's okay," he smiled. "I'll see you tomorrow. Let me know when you need help," He said.
"I will," I said. I walked out of the room Felix was already waiting for him. How did he get there so fast?
I stood in the hall gathering my stuff and organizing my backpack.
"Stop flirting Demetri," Felix said.
"I can't help it," he said chuckling, "Have you looked at her?"
Felix rolled his eyes. "Demetri, I don't trust her. She's always looking at us as if she knows something," Felix whispered.
"Dude the whole school is practically staring due to Becca," he said. "Theres a rumor again that we are vampires. We have to stop it before it continues. There's nothing wrong with Izzy. She's just curious and a normal human," Demetri said.
"She could be involved," Felix said.
"Felix. She very much dislikes Becca I doubt she's on her side," he said.
"She knows anything she's gone too," he said.
"Okay," Demetri sighs.
I picked up my bag again and headed to the office to sign out.
"Have a good rest of your day Izzy," the receptionist said.
"I will," I sighed and headed to my car. I got in and drove home.
