Jane POV

I dropped Izzy off. She doesn't deserve to be treated like that. I actually think she wants to hurt her more than we do. Odd for a human. I did feel connected to her. She reminds me of me before Aro changed me.

I listened to her for a few minutes, I heard her go upstairs and she began to cry. She made a phone call to work saying she was sick. I didn't really want to leave her alone in this state, but I had to go back to our rental home to talk to Felix and update Aro.

I walked in Felix was watching tv. He looked at me anger there. He wanted to kill Izzy and I can't let that happen.

"Felix," I sighed sitting next to him.

"What Jane," he said. Well, he is still pissed.

"You aren't going to kill Izzy understand?" I told him.

"Why. Shes just human. We feed from humans," he said.

"Yes, but she has history with Becca," I replied.

"Then we kill her Jane. Shes with her," he said.

"She isn't Felix. Becca did horrible things to her. Her parents died six months ago. I didn't hear how, but Becca has been spreading rumors that she is homeless and parentless. I talked with her as she had a... emotional outburst, which I'm surprised it didn't turn into a fight. She said that Becca deserves more than death. She is not on her side. I just drove her home," I replied.

"How come you're so attached to a human Jane?" He said.

"Because she reminds me of me when I was human. People spreading rumors that Alec and I are witches. She reminds me of me," I whispered.

He sighs at it and shook his head.

I glared at him and began to use my gift.

He arched his back and let out a hiss.

"Jane?" Alec touched my shoulder, and I let Felix out of my mind.

"Yes?" I said to him.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I don't know," I looked at him. "This mission is just getting to me," I looked down.

"Is it the girl? We can..."

"Yes, it's her but it's... she reminds me of me... us," I whispered. "We would be dead if Aro didn't turn us. People spread rumors that we were witches, and we were dragged to be burned. It's not as... intense of a situation but Becca is spreading horrible rumors about it all. Saying she is homeless and parentless," I paused when Felix cut me off.

"Well, she is parentless," Felix said.

I glared at him using my gift at full power. "And so were you when Aro turned you," I said and stopped.

I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. "She just reminds me of me," I said.

Alec rubbed my back.

"I'm going to update Aro," I said and headed to my bedroom.

I dialed Aro's number.

"Hello Jane," Aro said.

"Hello," I sighed.

"Is everything going okay, you sound stressed my dear," he said.

"Yes," I lied I can't tell him about Izzy.

"How is the mission going?" He asked.

"Well, we located Becca. She has done a lot of damage. New rumor around school that we are vampires.  Aro I...." I paused.

"Yes, my dear?"

"I think she deserves worse than death," I said.

"And why do you think that?"

"I..." I sighed. "There is this girl at the school..."

He cut me off, "Does she believe the rumor? Does she know," he said.

"No, no she doesn't know." I said quickly "I'm in class with her and Becca did some pretty bad damage to her, I was kind of talking with her today and she said Becca deserves more than death and I didn't understand until later. Becca is spreading very... painful rumors about this girl, and it's not okay. She... she reminds me of me," I whispered. Why did I say that?

"What do you mean Jane?" He asked.

"I mean she's spreading rumors that Iz-... the girl... is homeless and parentless... which her parents did die six months ago.  And... I don't know it's just making me think of when you saved Alec and me," I kept my eyes closed knowing it could be a very dangerous move to tell him.

"And the human thinks she deserves more then death?"

"Yes. We were talking... hypothetically," I said.

He sighs. "I will discuss this with Caius and Marcus to see what course is best," he said.

"Okay Aro... let us know," I said.

"Thank you, Jane, for the update," he said then the line disconnected.

I sat on my bed for a moment before going back out. "I'm going hunting," I said

"Want me to come?" Alec asked.

"No, I prefer to be alone right now," I said.

He nodded. I headed out looking on the streets for people. I found three people in an alley way and I moved over to one biting one male draining him quickly along with the second one. The female barely had time to scream before my teeth sunk into her warm blood-filled neck.

I put all three in the dumpster and lit the contents on fire.

I had gone back to the house. I went in and headed straight to my room. I laid down on my bed and grabbed a book wanting to do anything to distract myself.

After a few hours there was a knock on my door. It was Alec.

"Are you doing okay sister?" He asked

"Yes. Just stressed. Trying to take my mind off this situation. I've never been so bothered by a mission or even a human," I said.

"It's happened once or twice to me," he told me.

"Really. You haven't told me,"

"Yes. I got attached to this female when I was on a solo mission. We got to talking and I ended up well in love with her. I know I couldn't bring her home. I didn't want to force her into a life she did not want. I told her something very hurtful even to this day. I check in on her every once in a while, to make sure she is safe. But it happens to all of us. You... me... we still have humanity in us. We still have that instinct to love and care for people. Even though we aren't human we are still 100% capable of loving someone and caring for someone, human or not," he said.

I looked at him tears in my eyes hugging him tightly.

He rubbed my back gently. "It's going to be okay Jane," he said.

"I know it will be," I whispered.

"Want me to stay with you tonight?" He asked.

I nodded, "Please."

He nodded and sat next to me.

"Thank you for always being here for me," I whispered.

"Of course," he said. "I always will be sister," he smiled some. "Try to sleep," he joked.

"We can't sleep," I let out a small laugh and shook my head at him and I grabbed my book again and began to read.
