"you're to wed princess qq from the royal family of the eastern empire."

that was the king's order to the crown prince. and as the mere crown prince, who was tobio to disobey the direct orders from the king? considering how tobio had run away from all sorts of banquets and balls to avoid meeting any potential candidates as his wife. the king thus had enough of his son and finally arranged his marriage for him.

that was how kageyama tobio, the crown prince of the rising sun kingdom, ended up being engaged to the rin qq, a princess from the eastern empire. she was far from obtaining the rights to the throne, but this marriage was for the sake of politics, and tobio knew that.

truth to be told, tobio did not care much for this marriage. all he hoped was that his fiancé was not the clingy type and had the same stance as he did on this political marriage.

and this day would be the first time he was meeting the crown princess to-be. he awaited her carriage in front of the entrance of the crown prince's palace, wearing a new suit that he presumed his father had gotten his head butler to prepare: the coat was royal blue, and he wore a white dress shirt underneath with a cavat tied to his neck. the royal crest was embossed on a brooch that hung on his upper right chest, and he matched the ensemble with a pair of royal blue pants and black dress shoes. his hair had been slicked back today to give the best and a neat impression to his future wife.

a white carriage adorned with gold decorations, pulled by a white horse, came to a stop right in front of tobio. the footman opened the door of the carriage, and the long-awaited foreign woman stepped out.

she had thick, straight, black hair that came to her shoulders that turned into a warm shade of chocolate brown when she stood in the sunlight. she had a square-shaped jaw and a stern-looking face. she had a set of wide, dark brown, almond-shaped eyes with long lashes, paired by a cute button nose and a small mouth set on fair skin. her cheeks were rosy and tobio could see freckles dispersed over them, like little stars sparkling against the backdrop which was dark sky. she was wearing a simple rose-pink gown, and the skirt billowed out around her like the petals of a blooming flower.

princess qq, seventeenth in line to the succession of the throne of the eastern empire. tobio was well-aware of her existence. she was rumoured to be the femme fatale among all the female successors to the throne in her home country, with her fair skin and an easygoing and bubbly personality, along with her musical abilities — her hand was highly sought after in the marriage market.

upon descending the carriage, she instantly curtseyed and bowed her head, "greetings, your highness the crown prince."

tobio was slightly suprised, she's well-acquainted with our language. tobio felt ashamed of himself; he could barely speak a few words of her native language. then again, he knew that languages was not his strong suit, and that was why he always had a translator on standby whenever he met foreign ambassadors and such.

"there's no need for such formalities, princess qq," he said, bowing back as well. she was royalty as well, after all.

after both of them stood back straight, he extended a hand out, "let us head to the greenhouse. i heard that you enjoy looking at flowers. let me take you there."

she nodded, extending her hand to clasp his, "thank you for the invitation."

tobio turned to the servants who were awaiting them, "there's no need to follow us. we will be alright on our own."
