❝ i didn't forget my promise. ❞

"make sure you're stretching properly!"

kageyama sighed, rolling over to his left side, reaching his left hand over to grab his right knee, pulling his leg over and stretching his muslces. he knew he was doing it right when he felt the stretch in his legs, breathing out a sigh as he felt the soreness in his legs gradually start to ease off.

"okay, that's all for today," the coach said and clapped his hands together, "get home and rest up! we'll meet here again tomorrow at nine a.m. sharp!"

kageyama sat up slowly, stretching his arms over his head briefly as he watched his teammates get to their feet. he followed suit, getting up just as the gymnasium fell into chatter.

"tobio-kun, any plans for the evening?" miya asked as he walked over, draping an arm over the sweaty ravenette's shoulders.

"not any in particular, why do you ask?" kageyama briefly wiped some sweat off his forehead. that day's practice was slightly more intense, with the spikers trying out new attacks that they had picked out from national teams from other countries.

"i have an extra ticket for a japan phil's concert i'm supposed to attend to tonight, but no one will come with me," miya said, pouting, "i asked 'samu and he said he was busy. i asked shouyou-kun and he said he wasn't free either. i can't just go and support naomi-chan without any support of my own!"

the mentioned naomi-chan was miya's girlfriend of three years. she was part of japan phil, short for japan philharmonic orchestra, and she played the clarinet, if kageyama remembered correctly. (how could he not remember? miya was constantly boasting about how talented of a clarinetist his girlfriend was every time she was around.) kageyama had met her a couple of times when miya invited her over during team drinking sessions, and naomi always had to curb miya from drinking way too much.

and also, speaking of japan phil, it just reminded kageyama of some days when he was in junior high, when he had a close friend who was also pursuing music.

kageyama stared at the paper ("it's not called paper, tobio, it's called a manuscript!" she had corrected him multiple times on this, but there was so much the boy could remember.) in her hands, confused by the seemingly endless of thousands of 'bean spouts' written on the lines of five.

"more homework?" kageyama asked, sliding into an open seat in front of her, turning the chair around so that he could sit comfortably across of her. it was lunch break, meaning everyone was free to enter other classrooms as they pleased, and it was common to see students 'hijack' other classrooms during lunch to see their friends.

"nah, just doing some arranging," she answered, her pencil still writing things on the score.

"you wanna become a songwriter or something?" kageyama asked, raising his head to look at her. her brows were scrunched together in concentration and she was chewing on her lower lip. kageyama would rather die than admit it then, but he thought she looked rather cute doing that.

"nah, that's not my thing," she said, her eyes still focused on the manuscript, "i wanna major in an instrument, but i don't know which."

i wonder how she's doing now, he thought wistfully.
